Passed Class 2 - 5/4/13 - 2nd attempt

Back in November I took my class 2 test, and failed on reversing, managed to clip a cone! So yesterday I went for my retest, wasn’t overly nervous, but likewise I wasn’t overly confident. I had 2 hours with the instructor beforehand, practiced my reversing a few times, had no problems whatsoever, which is pretty much how it was last time, then I flunked it on test. This time, done my reverse, no problem, came close to nearly making the same mistake as last time, couldn’t see one of the cones in the mirror, but took a second to myself, edged back, cone came into view and I pulled it off. The nerves didnt get me that time!
So out we go on the test route. I took my last test in Norwich, this test was in Ipswich so was unfamiliar with the route, although I’d had a brief run around the route with my instructor. As it turned out, my test route was nowhere near where I’d been an hour earlier with my instructor! That aside, the drive was going well, in my mind anyway, until I couldn’t get it in gear at a junction, and I managed to kiss the kerb with the back wheel, just glanced off it, at which point I thought I’d failed, but strangely, after that, I seemed to relax a bit.
Anyway, we got back to the test centre, and I was expecting to hear those dreaded words, “sorry, you’ve failed”, instead he said “congratulations, you’ve passed”. I got 5 minors, 1 vehicle checks, 2 gears, 1 steering and 1 lane discipline.
So now the hunt is on for a job, I’m hoping the 15 years + 7.5t experience might help when jobs mention experience needed?
And I still have my class 1 course to do, I need to make the decision as to if I do it in an artic or wagon and drag, but i guess thats a question for a new thread…

Just to add, the training company I used are East Coast Driver Training, my instructor back in November was Les, and yesterday I had 2 hours instruction with Graham.

Congratulations! Friday was a good day, at least 3 of us passed Cat C!

Congrats. It all comes to those who persevere.
