Bullit I’ll stick a tenner on JJ mate
Experience over paperpushing anyday me thinks

I’ve lost track of how many times us poor unedumacated (but experienced) bad rep muppets have had to correct certain “certified” members on here

NOT

Welcome pettaw
Hope you are enjoying the “bonding” that this site gives

To anyone now joining us ringside  …, the last sentence was actually part of a short paragraph that has now been edited (hopefully JJ didnt get to read the full context  ).

MM, I think your right mate, should be worth more than a tenner though

sockpuppet - i wasn’t going to embarrass you by posting any of the very late, incoherent and plain rude PM which you sent earlier today :unamused: but lo and behold you decided to do it yourself now i’ve looked for the original thread…

what is clear from it’s content is that you have a very low opinion of lorry drivers, and as such i’m surprised you lower yourself to join in on a forum aimed at such people - maybe you could start a forum for logistics consultants (no experience necessary) and people who site Tesco warehouses around the world - only go-getting globetrotters need apply?

regarding your offer, please do proceed to really make me look foolish on a prublic [sic] forum - i’d like that :sunglasses:

Sockpuppet:
I could really make you seem foolish on a prublic forum but I think that you’ve done this enough yourself

Bah ! I never bother with prublic forums myself. Go on, make him look foolish i dare ya !!!
Take no notice to this lot of rabble. I know exactly how hard it is to design a square warehouse, and how complicated it can be to sort out racking and MHE, it doesn’t just involve stopping at the roof when you reach the top with the racking, you then have to pick a brand of fork truck and pallet trucks as well. And don’t even go there with how hard it is to sort out what port to get a container from, i know that it involves more than stabbing a pin in a map. But this lot just don’t seem to appreciate it !!
I do know a good place for Cast & Paragon studies though and thats right where it hurts !!!

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Bah you all know nowt :imp: :imp: :imp:

I just passed my cycling proficiency test so I know everyfink about road transport misteR

OOOPs looks like me nads just dropped

Thanks. Its part of the entertainment

awww shucks, now, cos he’s gone off earning £450 per DAY (say it like Peter Kay does about weight loss classes) in the Cotswolds - surely peanuts to a warehouse designer/logistics guru? - we’re going to have to wait for his blisteringly intelligent reply :grimacing:

jj72:

PAH wouldn’t get out of bed for that

well someone had to say it

Strangely enough thats more than I’d get designing a warhouse.

My point is you were thinking that the CPC is the be all and end all of “logistics”.

So you surmised that no CPC = not qualified in logisitcs.

Why would it then that in the last 5 years I have never needed to know anything about the CPC yet have worked in over 20 different projects. Probably becuase of the way they are formed. I am never hired to look at trucks they hire…wait for it…transport managers for that.

I dont have a low opinion of truckers (ok I have a low opinion of some truckers) mainly the ones that think the earth would grind to a halt without them. It probably would. Then what would happen if the IT guys stopped working. You think the systems would last more than a few hours. Or the warehosue workers. If they didnt load the tuck what would you carry.

You dont by any chance work for DHL do you. They seemed to take that approach as well.

Come on JJ man educate the “boy”

Not worried in the least about that tenner Bullit, in fact I might stick a bit more in the pot

Sockpuppet:
I mean if you wouldnt mind as you seem to think that its so easy if you wanted to say bring 18,000 containers into Bratislava which port would you use and why. Oh, you have to take into account customs barriers, price, port capacity, lead times for feeder ships, lead times for railhead, suppliers able to load onto a carrier servicing said port. So should take about 30 seconds all told.

gosh stop it - you’re frightening me :exclamation: it all sounds like a typical classroom exercise to me (but that’d be about right i suppose) consultants snigger just love things like that, where it can’t actually be proved that their plan is the most efficient, and even if it turns out to be inefficient they just somehow manage to blame the operator company

i’m surprised you’ve not mentioned my favourite buzzword yet - SOLUTIONS, but bet you have all the spiel like KPIs, benchmarking, yadah yadah

do us all a favour and start a logistics consultants forum, maybe you could merge with a trainee estate agents forum then you could all talk bollox and chat about your new beemers  if you want a peeing competition about managing projects (real actual ones which happened in the real world) then bring it on wee man - you’ve chosen the wrong bloke for that :sunglasses:

pmsl

           #

this is getting good.

please dont lock the thread.

My work is done before the operations get there so I dont touch buzz words. Once the site is selected and the layout designed I am off. We will have an idea of how “fast” you can work to put in a staffing plan but its rarely anything like quick.

Enlighten me. If you are as great as you make out I will apoiagise to you but at the moment all you seem like is some bloke that riffed on me for not having a CPC.

If you’d have said “you dont have a cpc thats rubbish…i have ” then fine. But all this started because you said:

jj72:
but you’ve only just taken your CPCs? that’ll be about right these days

All I am trying to prove is that trucks and CPCs are only one small part of logistics so not having a CPC does not classify you as not worth. It is not the only qual I hold and will probably not be the last qual I gain.

Still not trying to ■■■■ up the wall as I dont manage the projects. I’m usually more of a technical (specialist in IT WMS) or numbers analyst. If you want to show me the projects you have managed then please do I will be interested but they wont be the same thing as they are too different specialisms.

One of the main reasons I took my class 1 / cpc was becuase I wanted to gain more knowledge in that part of logistics more “real world” knowledge. I could have stayed like the guys I was working with that just wanted to give you no seatiing area, 1 coffee machine, take your keys off you and make you wait outside your cabs.

no, what i “riffed on” you for was not your lack of a CPC per se , but the fact that you are a self-styled Logistics Consultant without one, pompous twit

best leave you alone then, as you are turning yourself into a hero of the working lorry driver :unamused: even were the above true which I doubt, if the people you were working for said it’d save 50 quid I bet the plans would soon be altered, sir yes sir

sockpuppet - as you don’t want to put your latest PM on thread I won’t of course do it for you, suffice to say thanks for the apology, whether you are prepared to lose face by making it public or not

let’s agree to stay out of each others’ way in future eh? yeah, best idea i think :sunglasses:

When this thread came up I was worried about replying to it because I thought it would turn into a “they’re stealing all our overtime” type thread. I’m pleased it has remained above that level and only one of us is being picked on!

sockpuppet:

I know how you feel. A few years ago I used to do the IT consultancy things. Worst thing in the worls was when a customer asked me to actually implement my recommendations!

I’m not having a personal dig, I can think of many constructive comments to make but am enjoying reading this battle!
