Parking up in dunstable

I’m familiar with Watling Street truckstop but does anyone know if you can park up in - or close to - Dunstable itself? Even laybys, given that the A5 runs more or less through the town.

Wickes… or on the adjacent road.

Bear in mind that the A5 through Dunstable (now the A5183) is subject to a 7.5T weight limit…

Quite a while back now. They did’nt mind units parked on there. But when people started turning up with trailers and going over the plants and what have you. They put signs up.

I was using it up to last November… and so were plenty of others.
Shame if it’s gone, coz it was bang on.

was at bougheys in Northwich /nantwich waiting at the desk
big sign on the wall drivers are not to stop at Toddington services in any circumstances due to the high number of thefts we have encountered over the last few months.
duno how old the memo was but looked new

Watling Street rammed when I got there, ended up in St. Albans outside Chippingtons’ old yard (Soothouse Spring), handy for chippy, Chinese, Tesco Extra etc. But when I got to my drop in Dunstable - Humphrys Road on the Woodside IE - there must have been a dozen wagons parked up who had clearly been there all night. Worth knowing…
