Parked up waiting for a long time

What do you guys do if you are at a particularly long drop, or like me today sat at Felixstowe winded off?

There is only so much tv/DVD watching and reading books that I can do. I’m not feeling the urge to walk into Felixstowe and get blown around by Doris.

My longest unload was 18 hours down at Southampton docks, it wasn’t just me their must of been nearly 60 motors

But not on box work

Not normally bothered by it but with the wind down here today expected to keep it closed until about 2000 hrs, today is does.

Wuss…

Six days at Tangier docks.

Five days at Callagio service area. Just a coffee shop and petrol station.

Two days snowed in on the autovia at Villarubio.

bet others have had worse

Netflix and chill

Or if the weather is sunny, I’ll clean the truck

Deep joy for the owner operator.8 days at 24hr.truck stop at La Ginetta near Albacete in Spain.Deep winter.Temp at minus plenty. No night heater.Helped a spanish driver change a wheel on his 8 legger when our 2 x 10 ton jacks only just lifted the wheel.God knows what weight he had on.Cheap food and coffee in restaurant while waiting for a return load. All good experience.

I once got overtaken by a lunatic in a Hgv in the roadworks doing at least 51mph within 6 feet of my mirrors! I had no internet at the time so couldn’t whine about it on social media so had no option but to park up for two days to get over the trauma.

If you’re on here you reckless idiot I’m gonna beat you up and stuff.

Haha awesome what a stressful time that must have been for you. Have you finished therapy for it yet?

I once had a shoe lace on my safety boots snap. The horror of the whole episode still haunts me to this day.

Makes a blow from Doris seem quite appealing

I saw a killer juggernaut go through an amber light once.

Think of the children.

As long as no kittens were squashed thats the main thing…

A few weeks back i had the brakes seize on the third axle near Madrid and was going to lift and strap the axle up but broke my bottle jack, it blew its guts out everywhere, god knows what weight was on there… :grimacing:
Eventually got the axle lifted with the help of any driver but the other four tyres were bulging somewhat , took it to Zarragoza for new parts, another whole day wasted… :frowning:

Your type of work appeals to me,AndrewG,but I’m glad I don’t have to use your trailers from the stories you tell.

The work is good and i love it, the distance work sometimes gets to me but there is the option to do localish groupage which i occasionally take. Downside is the way past the sell by date old tilts we pull. These particular ones are not owned by the company i sub for but a HU haulier only used for aggregate (bulk bags). Trouble is they know im a fixer upper and its always the lemon of a trailer i get lumbered with strangely…
