Parked in lay by

I’d heard you should drop the trailer and drive out so that the 5th wheel is free. Less of a surface to buffet. And then you can pull the tractor unit over as far as you like (and get stuck).

Working evenings I always tried to change lane if I saw trucks parked in a lay-by. If I couldn’t change lane I’d move over as far as possible. Then when I parked up for my break all the jeffing deckers used to play wingmirrors with my truck :imp: (basically you try to clatter your wing mirror off theirs, at least that’s what I think they were doing, no other reason to be so jeffing close!)

Terry T:
. Gotta be mad to park next to a live lane.

Mad doesn’t begin to cover it mate.
So then you get to the next stage…moronic, ie. The idiots who feel the need to pull their mirrors in as they are so close.
They think their brain is telling them to pull their mirrors in, but in reality it is telling them that it is unsuitable (and dangerous) but thickness apparently prevails with these guys. :unamused:

Last night I stopped just out side Dorchester A35 at the toilet block lay by
Car transporter parked 20ft in front the at 3am a NRP transit parks In between us with his night heater on 3ft from my cab luckily no one had parked behind me ■■■■■■

i have done lay-bys in the past but now all my parking is paid so its truck stops or services far safer for me and thats my priority

There’s a free lorry park in Dorchester town centre mate, right next to that castle thingy that’s a museum. 2 mins walk to Wetherspoons, takeaways etc.
