Parcel post and speed limits

What is it with parcels and post trucks and speed limits through roadworks?
Any of the following will do: TNT,DPD,DHL,Nightfreight, tufnells, FedEx, Royal Mail, insert name of choice …

Wherever you are on the motorway system when you come across roadworks and the “50” limit, you can be sure that one of the above will pass at full speed. Are they exempt from these restrictions due to the very important job they do?

There ex Bulk Tipper Drivers winding down

Nothing stops the mail getting through

A non irish registered truck will never get done for going through a 50mph on the limiter.

British/EU law

Right…

56mph on a speedo is actually about 54/53mph, there is a +/- of about 5mph on a speed camera due to the law, 54 - 5 = 49mph.

to be honest with the 50 limit and the 10%+2mph over, that gets you to 57 most trucks limiter speed run at 55/56 so you won’t get a ticket, most of the average speed camera’s won’t even issue a ticket till over 60, well that is what I am lead to believe, I have never had one from the average camera’s on the M25 road works clacket lane, gone through them on the limiter a few times and the one on the M3 off of the 25 as well :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Wait for the im paid by the hour guys to say why would you speed in a 50mph, question to them why do you 56mph, 50mph,49mph 40mph? why not crawl along at 1mph? if 56mph is stressful, 40mph is not stressful imagine what 1mph is like.

One of our driver got a ticket on the M1 South Yorkshire a few week ago

Can you prove any of this…?

Up the speed limit to 55mph and traffic will flow much better.

Accidents will reduce because variations in speed will be reduced.

I see no problem with easing the Cruise Control back to 85 kpm at
the moment, if the roadworks are not congested.
