paperwork

Returning to Euro work after 13 yrs away (two kids to bring up etc)
Last trip needed this paperwork -
vehicle registration document
euro permit
insurance green card & euro accident statement sheet
cmr consignment
permit / cabotage permit
SAD with 'T boxes T1 T2 etc
TIR carnet
ATP for perishables

I may have missed some out but I think I’ve remembered the important ones.

Wondered if someone could help me with advice on paperwork needed now in the ‘free market’
Also none ec origin loads

Passport
Driving Licence
Registration Document (original, not photocopy)
Written authorisation to drive the vehicle (if the driver is not the owner.)
Insurance Docs (Green Card), up to you if you carry a European accident statement or not but it would make life easier.
CMR for the load or one for each part of the load
T-forms only needed for non EU, Switzerland, Norway and further away.
Carnet only if the load is under Carnet.
Community Authorisation, certified copy NOT the original.

You also need the Euro Vignette if going to Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Denmark. and Sweden.

Thanks, very much appreciated.

Does community authorisation replace ‘the permit’ ?
What’s a euro vignette, where do you get them, is it for the vehicle or the load?
Do you still need permits for none eu countries?
Is full cabotage allowed in eu?

If you don’t ask you stay ignorant!

Ignorance is no defence!

Yes

It’s for the vehicle and is required for vehicles over 12 tonnes. Best bet is to buy it in Dover before you ship out. You can buy it by the day, week, month or year. If you do ship out again ask on here where you can buy it as it will depend on the route you are taking as to their availability.

robB39:

I guess that would depend on which countries, you don’t need them for the likes of Switzerland and Norway. I would have to look up which countries you do still need them for so if you are heading to a non EU country again ask on here before you go…

robB39:

Yes, there are some restrictions but it is mainly to do with VAT rather than anything else.

Thanks again.

Another question.

How do you get on with customs and clearing agents does all that still happen?

If there’s free trade, are goods still exports and imports in eu?

Is there a book out with info on this kind of stuff?

Or any gov websites with info?

Chuff me, not much I do know now.

Thinking of doing a bit of driving for someone else to get my hand back in so to speak.

Still not certain whether to go it alone

I might even enroll on a course for customs agent / forwarder.

Do you know of any?

For deliveries within the EU there is no customs clearing to be done by the driver, delivering from London to Munich isn’t any different to delivering from London to Manchester as far as customs and the driver is concerned.

The only time I deal with customs and customs agents now is for deliveries/collections in Switzerland or when transiting there when you need a transit T-form. The same would apply to any other non EU country. It can still happen that you get a T1 with a load you pick up within the EU when it has originated from outside and hasn’t been cleared yet, once cleared into the EU the goods are in free circulation and don’t require customs papers.

No ideas as far as books go, apart from the transport bible that is Croners and you need to subscribe to that.

the transport bible that is Croners and you need to subscribe to that.

Which requires a Mortgage!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :unamused:

apotheosis
All other paperwork you’ve mentioned above in order.

I have my own trailer take a load to say Italy from UK.
That could be arranged without customs clearance?

Reload Italy for France then France home?

What would be the formalities for that? None? (besides cmr convention)

If thats the case why all these ODs working for forwarders

Is it 'cos they don’t want the hassle of finding their own work

I will have to look into this. I’ll see if any old contacts are still around across the water.

You’re a good 'un coffee.

Yes unless you were transiting through Swiss when you would need a transit T-form, these can be obtained from many agents at the border or from Ashford, Dover etc before shipping. If doing it at the border most agents want an invoice for the load before they will raise the T-form

Yes, just CMR.

Pass, ask me one on sport that may be easier to answer.

Is there still a weight limit through Swiss?
I think it used to be 28tonne not sure now though.
I remember something about certain routes to be opened to allow 38t to transit through as it was back then.
Not been to or through Swiss myself. Went with my dad he ran there delivering carpet tiles years ago. Beautiful place, so were those chocolatey danish pastry type things you could buy.

Whats the situation now?

The weight limit is now 34 tonnes but I believe you can get permits to allow you to run heavier or you can get a train from Germany to Italy

You’re da man.
I thinks that’s all for now. This site is great! :grimacing:
