How did you manage that because when a D4 medical is done it requires a photocard licence

Good point - it could be on his pre 1997 C1 with the CE out of date - did not think of that = DOH!!

I had my class 1 since 1992 , no points etc ! got my first medical July 2015 ( I will be 45 then)

Getting your DQC
If you have a paper licence
You’ll need to swap your paper licence for a photocard licence before you can get your DQC. This is because the DQC needs a photograph and signature, which are taken from the photocard details.

I know that works for those who already have a photocard and replace the photo if this is the first time they are issued with the new style licence (from October 2012) but whether it will work for a paper only to photocard has never been tested - BUT ITS WORTH A SHOT

Worked for me, had a paper licence last year and renewed it for a photcard one and it came back with CE expiry date of 2018 (just before me 48th birthday).

Worked for my mate an’ all. Had to send his paper licence back just after Christmas to get a photocard so he could get his cpc card, and it came back with a valid til 2018 date I think. He turned 45 last month.
