Palmer and Harvey/Warburtons

Hi All,

Does anyone know what either of these two companies are like to work for? Any advice would be much appreciated!

I have never worked for these companies but see both companies drivers out and about and looks much like any other multidrop work. Cage loaded tail lift work plenty of handball, good experience building as most drops will be tricky to get in to ie small shops in town centres,P&H do petrol stations etc…
You will need to work methodically and be able to count and read invoices as a certain amount of picking and identifying the product will be expected.
I work for 3663 so can honestly say its hard work but the jobs what you make it,home every night, clean job and once you get to know your customers you should never be short of a coffee and a bite to eat!
Plus the added bonus you will earn decent money as they need to pay more than average as it is hard work.
Hope that helps.

i did a block booking with P&H in portsmouth (or close by) and lasted 3 2/3rds of a shift. i did 2 of 3 drops on the 4th day and took the truck back then walked off the job. i think that is the only job i have ever walked off site from. taking cages off the wagon, into the shop then unloading on my own and piling the boxes into stacks of 10 so the store manager can do a quick count. i dont mind handballing but not to that extent. im a delivery driver, not a shelf stacker :imp:

Warburtons pay more than P & H but can be very early starts and be prepared for plenty of weekend working!!! I done a bit of agency work for P & H and its very hard work and as the other guy said you are expected to count the stock and handball it and stack it in the storeroom in the correct places!!! I now work for 3663 too and again…hardwork but nothing as bad as P & H!!! I would def go for Warbutons over P & H or give Allied Bakeries or 3663 a look on their websites as all around the same sort of money!!! :sunglasses:

my mate is on for warburtons. he starts work (in tonbridge I believe) about 2.30 am very hard work but done by lunchtime.

Stacking in stock rooms isn’t restricted to P&H, many foodservice companies do it. One place we do in Devon, you park outside the shop, pumptruck up the street about 50 yards, down a narrow sidestreet tjen into an alleyway at the back of the shop. Then it’s handball inside and upstairs, to stack in storeroom. Thankfully this doesn’t happen everywhere…

up at 1am every mornin then chase your backside round turnin 20hrs work into 10. welcome to the world of the breadman.

Warburtons are job and finnish i heard, hence why there always racing around to get done

If you can cope with early starts ,warbies money for old rope
