don.t be silly fred i have already a driver that exists in burton, a town not far from depot , maybe a left turn , maybe a right i don 't know …
But driver’s both like not A38 fradley turn off , pallex truck. come out on road slip and go
BOOM … on the faster truck pedal …
HIill down roll they try !!!
Why do you guys give Fred such a hard time? People complain when newcomers to this country don’t integrate, and then when someone like Fred tries his hardest to do just that, no-one makes the effort to support and encourage him…
If I could write in German even half as well as Fred does in English, I’d be justifiably chuffed with myself.
Quote ( or words to this effect) " trailer pushing you …
Exhaust brake and foot brake’s before the trailer get’s a chance to control you …
Obviously in extenuating circumstances you can’t effectively do this , and your left to fate . But as i posted i have noticed that pallex driver’s seem to have no fear and plough on regardless . Maybe it’s just me i don’t know , i have a moving load so i,m always aware of whats going on if possible and ready to react because at the end of the day that moving load in the wrong circumstance’s has the potential to kill me …
I,ve been pushed almost into a jackknife by one our 29T trailer’s at 10mph in a yard in the wet , so i do know what you mean …
I,ve done parcel’s , i know parcel work is light …Very light compared to what i do now …I sometimes pull an double decker gunneled to the limit with wine’s and spirit’s I hate it, the [zb] thing scare’s me . But i drive to well under the vehicle’s limit’s on roundabout’s and curves and leave a good gap ( cars do jump in ) and just take my time …
I see pall ex with double deckers driving like there in a go cart …
Just my opinion !!!
Too obvious. L.
divide 90000 : 3600 and you have the Meter you travel per Second by speed of 90km/h
How long will you need to shift to a Gear where Exhaustbrake works?
In Emergency can you just push Brakepedal down and hold your Steerlingwheel.
NOW
to by not too long have most Artic’s Fifthwheel to much on Front which brings you more Weight to Frontaxle, which means that Trailer pushes rear of Tractor around frontaxle and you can’t do against that anything.
if you have your Fifthwheel on right Place(check with weightslip on axleweightbridge),that could you do with steering against a lot.
two steered axle on Tractor would help a lot topo, but they are expensive.
In that Case will you see much more Jackknife in Future,as Steptrailer may run longer without Brakedisc

Simon:
Before I got a “proper” job , I did agency work for a while. One job that came up occasionally was a night trunk for Woolies with double deckers. This was when Exel had the contract (although I think that Wincanton had already taken over the warehousing part of the contract). I ran from Glasgow down to Chesterfield (I think), did a trailer change and took my break before running back up to Glasgow.
On the second occasion of doing this run my trailer back up the road wasn’t ready for me, so I waited in the drivers rest room for them to call me when it was loaded. After about an hour and a half the shunter came in and told me I was loaded ready to go. As it was getting a bit late by now I hooked up, did the usual checks (including checking the backdoor seal), revved up and disappeared from the yard in a cloud of dust . Happily, I had to slow right down to turn out of the yard, because as I pulled away again, the inside wheels of the trailer started to lift. I very gingerly drove down the road, round the roundabout and back to the yard.
The gaffer wasn’t very pleased to see me back, but when I insisted that we had a look at the load before I would move it any further he stomped about but agreed to check with me. When we opened it up we saw, 20 or so pallets of canned drinks on one deck and another 20 or so pallets of crisps. Which deck do you think was loaded with the crisps
Ill put you out of your misery ,
That’s right, THE BOTTOM DECK
I was lucky, I would have been going a fair bit quicker when I reached the roundabout. It was a straight section of road and at after 2:30 a.m. there would be very little traffic so it would be easy to time driving onto it at a reasonably quick rate of knots.
I also did several weeks of nightshift when I was with Andrew Wisharts. They are part of the Palletline set-up. I was running down to the northern hub in Leyland with a double decker. The forkies in Kirkcaldy and Leyland knew their job and would listen to the drivers preferences. I had no heart stopping moments when I was doing that run and ran at, near enough, full weight most nights.
I had somethings 10 days ago.
i called the Office to send my the Warehouse Manager with Forklift to reload in sound of Militarytrainer
as he arrived told he me i may first hold the Lorry in Propper Contition before i complain,as he can see that left Trailerwheels are Flat
as i lifted a Pallet on front by Hand and he couldn’t nearly Lift Pallets on back with normal Forklift said he nothing anymore.
He just changed Forklift, brought 2000kg back in Warehouse, did some havy Pallets to Front and some other to right side to make it better.
Next Day
forkliftdriver cam to me to ask if we are all warm gay’s as we reload Trailers he would go with
Yep,thats the Forkliftdriver i kept running my mind along with some Banknotesdonations.Since i finished doing it is he just drying to make where just possible somthings wrong
fred Kanka:
Anywhy,he’s from Purfleet, and you can apply there for his Job.
As the Tractor looks will you by sure get a new Unit.
bloody hell fred thats a bit heartless
No,i am sorry with his wife and children.
He isn’t anymore, and i am sure that for his Famaly broke the World down.
But,it’s the Life on the road.
How many of drivers i know are Killed?
Too many as that i could count all.
but Life goes on,and if someone is from that Area he may be happy to get a Job.

Sorry. You’re probably right…he just seems to get more than his fair share of stick, is all.
Unreserved apologies from me, Didn’t mean to start approaching anything close to lightheartedness. Forgot that’s not really what this site is becoming.
i agree with jonboy the a38 or racetrack as i call it cuz thats what these pallet/parcel boys use it as is a nightmare 2 of these numpty,s had come on at fradley and decided to race each other to the lichfield junction both of these idiots were pulling double deck trailers if theyd have made one tiny mistake it would of been carnage and im not trying to start a speeding issue but i was doing 60 in my car and they were staying ahead of me .i couldve phoned the company but thats not me and it wouldnt of made any differance anyway.
I do a night trunk for Palletline and there is certainly no problem about arrival times - we know how long it takes to get there and leave enough time to book in on time.
For the return journey there is no great pressure on us to be back as we ususally get out of the hub in plenty of time. Of course the sooner we get back the sooner we go home, but it’s not worth driving like a maniac for. (Is it?)
Most of the FLT drivers on the night shift at Palletline seem to know how to load a trailer, although not all drivers want the same. If they have not loaded for me before they will usually ask how I like it loaded and I will always ask to have pallets moved or put somewhere else if I want. The load is driver’s responsibility so it has to be right.
Our trailers have lifting rear/upper deck so that tall but light pallets can be put on the back end. There is a tendency for people to put tall stuff on the headboard even if it is light and this will make the loaded trailer push the unit on at roundabouts if you brake too late.
Most problems seem to be the result of bad observation/planning and bad loading. Speed in a straight line is not a problem, but changing direction at speed is. If you plan not to change direction at speed a double decker is perfectly stable.

“Please could you but the ADR-Pallet from there as singlen to topdrck” i asked.
NO,i work here since 5 Years and know what i can do,he said. Yes,i said, but i don’t have a licence to carry ADR that Way ,in that Case bring it back in warehouse

yea,you have to think that rear-topdeck presses down at Backwall.
if you overthere have 8 Pal with each 400kg then goes the weight of rear 4 Pal = 1600kg straight the Backwall down as if you would have there a pallet with that weight.
But it doesn’t presses just Axleweight to over 8000kg,it also lifts you the Front of Trailer.
Most i like it heavy on Platform and Maindeck till first Traileraxle.
i did Courtain in middn,to help the orklift driver if he comes with leightweightpallet doing it straight away at backend, and havy Pallet he could place on front.Upperdeck and topping up could he do with Pallets till 400kg.
Costed me all few days a donation of £20.-.
as i finished with donation went Forkliftdriver to Warehousmanagement and Union secretary to complain about my,and refused serving my trailer since them
