Pallets on snow

Am I right in thinking it is unwise to loads pallets on to a trailer that has a couple of inches of snow on it?

yes you are right they will slide …

definatly a no no packing the snow down with weight turns it into ice, might as well put machinery skates under the pallets.

i always carry a spade from october to march.

logical thing to carry a spade or shovel in the winter for clearing snow etc off the trailer or lorry body.Also useful if you have problems with road conditions as in throwing some grit under the wheels.

The taut I was using the other day had snow on it, but my pallets stayed in place no probs.

Could be a bit risky if the snow fell on your head whilst opening curtains I suppose?

If the forklift driver hadn’t put the pallets on the snow I would have done. I wasn’t allowed to be present whilst trailer was loaded. I delivered load safely but it is still a stupid thing to do, perhaps that is why he does what he does, lack of initative.

i wish someone had cleared the ice off the tilt i followed the other day… there was one hell of a bang when one chunk hit my windscreen, lucky it didn’t break it.

@waddy you should of said to forkie or TM remove the pallets off the trailor and sweep the snow off,remember the load is the drivers resposibility and if that had slipped off you would of been in trouble not the forkie…
