I have seen them about on sites, strong things made of pallet wood
But I have not seen them in the pallet yards
What I have seen looked the wrong shape and too strong and heavy for my use, the kind of thing I need can be seen hear luxurywood.co.uk/crates/ful … ApSE8P8HAQ whitehorseenergy.co.uk/firew … Am898P8HAQ
The pallet looks to be of a standard size and the crate looks to be about twice the width of the pallet
But I don’t know who makes them and who sells them, I live in ■■■■■■■
Thanks
Don’t really see those types of crates too often personally. Have you thought about the metal framework cages that go around the ibc tanks? They seem to be a lot more common, if they would suit you, plenty for sale online etc.

Picked up a few of these with the logs in when doing a pallet network trunk, and as they where going to private address’s i would imagine they would be chopped up for kindling once emptied.
Anyone who thinks that first one is a good idea should be forced to deliver a couple via
tail lift. 1.7+ m high on a euro pallet base, good luck with that.
Op what are you putting in them? Could you not use a tote bag?
Are yes the builders bags
It might work I suppose, but I would need 2 bags stacked ontop of each other then straped to the pallet.
But those builers bags are only like 1/2 or 3/4 of a cubic meter not a full cubic meter
Well to be honest this is the kind of load I was hopping the strap to a pallet, but about time and a half the hight of this one so 2 meters high. And it will be up to its full 750kg wight limit at that ebay.co.uk/itm/Net-Bags-Of-K … Sw5cNYG3xj
Can’t see shrink wrap working; can only see the dam thing falling over in the back of the truck
When it gets that high its just so unstable
They (were) purpose made for shipping kiln dried logs to the UK from Europe in shipping containers, (we sell kiln dried logs and so know all about them crates)…
H&S started to ‘get involved’, even over there recently, as the crates were VERY unstable when people handled them ‘over here’.
H&S said to change the design - not sure if there was any accidents with toppling crates prior to this though.
And couriers etc (I think), were getting a bit arse twitchy when handling a full crate too.
(One of those crates holds 4 cubic metres, so would you want to handle / restack 4 cubic metres of logs (on your own) if it went over??)
Now, they’re ‘deeper’ and not as high, but still hold the same ‘volume’.
Already said about veg/Potato box pallets would they be any good? or Depending on how many you need and how good they’re meant to look could you not make a cage/box out a normal pallet and some lengths of wood to support the net bags or would that be a no no?
Could ask around some farms about potato box pallets!
I send logs over to the Isle of Man, I supply a standard pallet to a pallet/packing case company in Liverpool and they build a crate 6foot high on the pallet for £50
The customer keeps the crate and and the price the customer pays for the logs is factored in along with the shipping costs and pallet case
