Paint and body work

Hello I am just wondering if paint and body work on car or lorries is a good job I am thinking of taking a course and I don’t now if there is a future in it

there will always be idiots who crash vehicles, so, there will always be a need for people to repair the crashed vehicles

Not a bad job but pay isn’t great about on par with driving and doing a course doesn’t mean you get a job as you get a better (recognised) qualification if you do an apprenticeship in which case expect £2.50 an hour for a couple of years although some employers do pay better when you’ve proven yourself.
A lot of time is spent sanding and prepping the panels, if you aren’t patent this job isn’t for you! It’s a dirty job as the dust gets everywhere also ppe especially dust masks/respirators are essential due to the dust/vapor which in a few years will cause you major problems if you don’t take precautions.
Overall it’s a skilled job and not something you can jump into and the satisfaction when you spend days/weeks transforming a crashed wreck into something that looks like it’s just left the showroom.

Bodywork was how i got into wagons and i’ve not looked back!

Thanks for that but I have asthma would that be a problem

the trouble you may find is getting taken on as many bodyshops dont have the time to take on and train new starters even though you been on a course and passed i found it meant diddly squat
the best way into this game i found was doing on day release 1 day collage 4 days working in a bodyshop this way you learn in the real world

the money is in specialised things such as custom paint jobs learn your trade get good and you can earn well some bodyshops that do insurance work can be rush rush rush as the insurance firms alocate a set amount of hrs per vehicle ( genrally its not enough due to insurance firms trying to save money ) the lads would be trying to get the job done in as quick as possible time as they earned a bonus for hrs they saved
i spent a good few yrs in this game doing all kinds of jobs from car smashes to comercial vehicles and am responsible for quite a few red parcel force vans as we had a contract with merc to cover the work they couldnt keep up with
i enjoyed the job but now much prefer driving

So it’s mostly the same as lorry driving than still don’t now which one to try

Good job,but its then as everywhere on the Company down too.
Would know you a Paintshop to buy in California. Or just one of thems old Cars he has stored, for restauration.
