paid by cheque

Does anyone still get paid by cheque?

I got such one,i sent the Police behind them as no one took the Check. Then i got paid by Cash. But the otheer had often Problem. The one Time it wasn’t signed, and the other Time the bank gave it back

i meant for a permanent job not agency

Speaking from a small business perspective I still get a lot of customers paying by cheque, but the majority of companies I deal with, large & small, will pay by some form of bank transfer, simply because it’s cheaper, but also quicker & easier. If any company paid me by cheque I would immediately assume it’s because they have a slight cash-flow problem & want the extra couple of days to get the funds in to pay for it.

I wouldn’t want to be the proverbial month in arrears and be paid by cheque!

Imagine how much it would hurt to see a firm go under with them owing you 4 figures! :open_mouth:

I would refuse it too if it was paid “not by the hour”.

The whole idea of agency is you know exactly what you get for so many hours.

If I did a night trunk of say, 4 nights out I’d expect 60 hours pay. :smiling_imp:

Mate of mine does.

I just can’t understand why anyone would pay by cheque when it is so much quicker and easier to pay by BACS.

It is, presumably, so that the money doesn’t go from the account for another three days but you have to wonder about the cashflow situation of a firm which need that window.

is that weekly pay?

cash or BACS
as has been said slow & expensive (for them)
and pointless in this day and age

Getting paid by bacs ain’t no safer if there’s no Money in the account.
