Heres a question. Was there any significance to the colours of Ferrymasters containers. I have seen both blue and yellow ones. Would you have seen a yellow tractor pulling a blue one for instance?

Whe the new P&O corporate livery was first introduced (in 1976, I think), it imposed a standard livery across the group, at companies like North Western Roadways, A S Jones, Pandoro, etc., with an Olympic blue cab and white doors. Different companies did their own thing with chassis colours and some of the fonts on the graphics were a little off the standard. I was with Pandoro at the time.
However, because Ferrymasters had had their distinctive yellow livery beforehand, apparently there was a special dispensation for them to substitute yellow for blue. However, I can’t recall ever seeing any piece of Ferrymasters equipment in blue.
Thanks, that was the bit of info I needed
I have an old aluminium container which I use as a shed, the sort with a curvy roof and top lifting shackles.
Under the thick brown paint it has been blue and lettered “P & O Ferries Irish sea services”.
I recon that the box will be older than this operation, proberbly dating from the 50s or early 60s.
Just wondered if anyone could shed any light on who it would have originaly belonged to?
I don’t realy need to know, just curious, thats all.
i would guess that it was for ships stores in that livery lifted on & off the ferry every other trip maybe wrong usually iam
They where called B type containers, one company that used alot of them was the Belfast steamship company out of princess dock liverpool on daily sailing to belfast, ulster prince and the ulster queen running the ROR service.then being sold to P&O Pandora still opreating today out of liverpool hope this helps.
Thanks guys, thats given me something to follow up, I’ll see if I can find any photos of Belfast steamship containers.
Don’t suppose anyone knows what their colours were ? Then I can scrape some P&O blue off and see if what’s underneath matches !
