P.o.a a noob question

How do people keep a record of their p.o.a during the day? I expect a lot of people just keep a mental check on it but are hour guards a good option for this or simply writing it down throughout the day?

Thanks

I assume you’re using an analogue tachograph so why not just keep a written record same for driving time.
If you’re using a digital tachograph a record is kept for you

Having said that I don’t use POA, I just shove the tachograph on break

Why would anyone want to know how much POA they had

Hi Tachograph,

I’m using a digital tacho, and i’ve tried keeping an eye on p.o.a when i use it, it keeps a record until you pull away from a parked position the same as a break. But it doesn’t keep on ongoing record of accrued p.o.a. throughout the day. I assume an hour guard does.

The reason I ask is if asked to do a 15 hour day, then p.o.a is going to be needed to do this, so as not to use up your working time.

All you need to keep a record of is driving time and other work time for the RT(WTD)R

POA and breaks do not count towards the RT(WTD)R

EU regs require that you take the correct driving breaks during the day/shift and that you take the correct daily and weekly rests

I cannot see how knowing the amount of POA taken can be necessary

It does keep a record, but doesn’t present the info until you ask for it, either by printout or scrolling through on the display.

I though you could check the POA by selecting “Display Driver 1” and scrolling down to the end but I could be wrong (will check tomorrow).

Siemens digital tachograph:
With vehicle stationary press “OK” this will take you to the printout menu, press the down arrow until you reach “Display Driver 1” then press “OK” and “OK” again to accept the date, now scroll down to the end of the days record and you should see how much POA has been recorded.

You’ll still only be able to reduce the daily rest 3 times between weekly rest periods regardless of how much POA you use.

Agencies will want to know how much POA is recorded for their records, unfortunately you can’t always book breaks for some companies.

Thank you

Thanks for your help all.

I’ll have a scroll through the digi tacho tomorrow and check out the driver display info. Cheers for the guide tachograph. :sunglasses:
