i am thinking of getting my own truck. is there work for owner drivers or am i mad for thinking of it ?
Unless you’ve got a lot of experience in the haulage industry, I’d say the latter

i hope you have very deep pockets
Echo what the above said.
It’s probably not the smartest thing for a new HGV holder to do and you need to have fairly deep pockets. £15k for a decent motor, £500-700 to fill it depending on what it is, trailer (unless you pull for someone else) insurance, probably about £6-8k per year again depending on how long you’ve held it. Operators license etc…

Get back to your padded cell at once, oh and welcome to TNUK.

I expect somebody said that to the young Eddie Stobart once when he asked for advice about buying a first lorry.

Probably not H, he already had a background in farming and could load a rully, he had some customers and a plan

Did he come on TNUK and ask the same question?
