Can someone please explain the basics of being an owner driver?
I think it involves buying/leasing either a C cat truck or a tractor unit for an artic (but not usually a trailer?), plus apparently you need your own operator’s CPC licence? And some kind of premises.
Do people sometimes do this together, with several owner drives sharing a yard and maybe other stuff eg accountants etc?
(I get the point about needing several years experience as an employed driver first, plus it’s difficult to get established with customers to start with, etc. I’m just going back a stage and getting my head round how it works!)
