Don’t know about the zero hours bit, but the money’s nothing to write home about. I hear they’re looking for driverS at their Wrexham site.

I recall they were looking for a skilled panel beater earlier this year and offering £7.50 an hour.

Their website shows the hourly rate for each vacancy.

Keep on walking. Nothing to see here. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :frowning:

They do have very nice new trucks.

i thought they were inn trouble a while back, cant remember if it was money problems or vosa…someone will enlighten no doubt…and looking at the jobs advertised, doesnt look like a zero hour contract, but still ■■■■ money.

I spoke to a ex Owens driver, who said the reason why he left was that when they raised the hourly rate they changed the drivers contract of employment to say that drivers hours were as and when needed and no fixed hours I.e not guaranteed hours of work 48/60 a week.

Then why are you asking us?

I always like to know how things are as I have a family to support and a mortgage to pay for and I don’t want to start going from company to company.

Which part of South Wales are you from?

I’m from Swansea

You tried Mansell’s… Llanfyrnach or that’s too far?.

Cardiff would be to far to travel to each day in that case.

Do need to be home every day, or ok to tramp? Have you tried Wincanton, on the milk?

Why not try Aldi in Cardiff? bit of a round trip but considerably better paying than anything else you may find in the area.

John Pearce were after a driver on nights last week - assuming its as a pallet network trunker.

im on a zero hours contract. been with the company since last august. never done less than 60 hours in a week

At the moment I’m working for a builders merchant, so looking for a job with more hours I.e 6am till 6pm Monday to Friday, no tramping or late/early starts.

The only problem with zero hour contracts is that they can send you home from work if it’s quiet or no truck available or change your days of work and not pay you as you haven’t a leg to stand on, with a contract they pay you for the hours and shift you have agreed too at the start.
