I saw it on the news last night and the driver said “my lorry was 3” lower than the bridges signed height".
there’s no sign on the bridge. looks like a nice little earner for the driver.
Must have been moving a bit to tip over, not good even if you think you have 3 inches to spare. I crawl under bridges when I have 6 inches to spare

There must have been a sign before the bridge as the driver said his height was 3 inches lower

you are probably right, but there must be a sign on the bridge.
I think heights should be marked if less than16’6",but could be wrong
There would have been a sign on the bridge,the trailer hitting the bridge would have ripped it off,
also on the approch to the bridge there would have been a warning sign.

Sorted. 
There is a bridge in London marked at 16’, i went under neath slowly with a 15’10" trailer, as i came out, i heard a clatter, stopped and looked back, only to see the sign on the exit side of the bridge had been placed so that the bottom of the sign hung down about 6" below the bridge!
Yes, recovery guys made an arse of it!!
