Pull back, they are mainly thankful and help you out further down the road
Two points…

Grumpybum you are not welcome here. You talk sense!
Carry on going of course, i’d expect the driver of the faster lorry to carry on going. When he catchs back up after the hill and then decide to try again, if on a two lane section i’d back off to let him pass, or if its more than 2 lanes and the other cars wont be held up i wont back off.

The fact youre asking the question shows what a professional driver you are!
I would do what the others have said too, but have to ask why any pro would even bother hanging it out to overtake there fully laden so that you had to back off to get him out of the brown stuff. How the friggin hell does asking a random question to see what people’s opinion is show that I’m not a professional driver you absolute tool?! Is this not a truck forum? Aren’t forums a place where people post random topics, in the case of this particular forum they are ‘trucking topics’…don’t comment if u can’t be sensible.
Dont let it worry ya mate, its posts like that that generally sum up this forum perfectly!!
You gota watch what you say and ask around here as there are so many perfect, whiter than white, righteous pricks here its [zb] unbelieveable.Dont think Ive ever come across one with so much ‘in-fighting’ and back stabbing in all my life. No wonder driving for a living is such a joy now- NOT.
The way I read it, coreysboys was actually complimenting the OP - someone else pointed this out too and the OP apologised for jumping the gun. No need to re-jump the gun on his behalf.

spot on mate i dont come on here very often , dont think i will bother any more after reading this thread as it pretty much summs up the whole forum i think this is the only forum i go on that edits posts for bad language ! makes me laugh as most truckers swear about something daily i would imagine
so why the big brother tactics sad
i would leave him in lane 2 and keep going, then i would pull my frilly curtains across the window a bit more so he cant make eye contact on the way down the hill
The ones that pee me off when in a scenario as per the op are the ■■■■ that do neither of the above suggestions but just sit level with ya or just behind ur cab all the way to top of the climb, staying just out of sight…so ya cant shake ur coffee at them lol

Haha i like ur style
i’ve had a similar thing so many times over the years. there are some really dumb [zb]s out there.
most lorries i’ve driven have been wound up a bit 57/58mph. i’ve overtaken someone on the flat, then going down windy hill the fully loaded lorry limited to 53mph comes tear arsing down lane 2 only to get level with me at the next incline. he’s then left in the middle lane blasting his horn so much he’ll brake it. and if the stupid [zb] can’t work out that an empty flatbed that leaves him standing on the flat is going to be much quicker than him uphill. then trying to educate him would be as affective as trying to load sand with a pitch fork.
Muckaway:
I’ve found out over the years, leaving the sheet over an empty tipper can encourage these situations; Drivers pull out expecting you to slow down on an incline and then come unstuck. I’d presume that Sy had the sheet over the bulker (fuel saving)?
Always thinking of the fuel…

it boils my ■■■■ truck drivers, I call them ‘momentum lads’ who driving truck slower than yours use the momentum of their full loaded truck to pass you only for you to overtake on the straight, next hill happens again and so forth, pricks. It’s called ‘making proper progress’. We should all be confident enough and competent enough to use all available lanes to make progress. If you’re faster on a downhill and complete the manoeuvre without hindering anyone else then what’s the problem? So you get overtaken again? So what? That’s what overtaking lanes are for.
Would you have us all in a line braking on the down hill just so that no-one has to venture out to overtake? That’s like the car drivers in the middle lane who are too scared to move their head from looking straight forward to check their mirrors and move over.
Why shouldn’t both vehicles make the same progress and use the undulations to their advantage? You may think it makes no difference, but you could end up a long way back if you don’t use the road fully to keep up.
This ^^
I quite enjoy passing the time in the company of some truck drivers. The friendly game of leapfrog, providing it doesn’t get to obstructing other traffic can be a bit of a laugh. Like when Clarkson and the Saxondale team at the Britcar race where having their little battle. But all legal and fun.
It boils my ■■■■ when someone, usually a little 7.5t puddle jumper sees you trying to overtake so he pulls ahead, only to slow down again when you slot in behind. I was stuck behind one of these bellends from M6 Toll to Northampton Services the other day. I was spitting feathers by the time the prick pulled off.
