Why do some drivers wait till they are about 6 feet off your rear end before they decide to pull out? had a trolley dolly catch me up quite fast this morning but then slow down when he caught up with me, then sat there for a bit before pulling out to overtake.
Cause some dicks will leave em hanging in lane 2 so they’ll stomp up wait and see what ur gonna do then make their move

wrong answer.
It’s because the majority of drivers are now just idiot steering wheel attendants in a dumbed down job not giving a toss and driving like they do in their car, it’s only gonna get worse

Unfortunately you are probably correct. Can it get worse?
Trying to limit the time in lane 2? Instead of pulling out 100 yards before.

And maybe waiting so he doesn’t hold up too many car drivers? Going up A1 quite a lot recently and the amount of knobs who take mile after mile trying to overtake and holing up a line of cars!
Maybe he was an experienced driver who just wanted to help traffic flow?

Yes my friend as you seem to be a proper lorry driver unlike the sat nav watching, phone texting and on and off the accelerating boys we now have to endure

Although poor forward planning and inexperience is correct there are a few other reasons.
They lack the ability to ease off the limiter.
They are looking for a good gap in traffic, that said this breed of driver tends to just pull out regardless anyway.
Youve krept on em whilst they where texting or watchin a film
They dont like to brake
They are hoping your going go pull off in front of them (probably unique to me this)
They have recently suffered an embarassing incident of being left hung out to dry by trying to overtake me an a steep down hill section.
They may be slipstreaming, need to be closer than six feet, six inches might work
They may be unsure if they have the speed / power available weight vs weight
They have a similar muppet up their arse who has just pulled out at the exact moment they wher going too
However its an everyday thing thats too easily done, I myself have got caught out on occasion by misjudging the speed of the vehicle in front and trying to seamlessly pass without causing other road users to much grief.
Hang on 6 feet is a massive gap, grow a pair you big girl. Your the vehicle in front think how massive the tailgating truckers cajones are being so brave. Sure its possible to check when they are being scraped out of their cab afyer a sudden impact.
I don’t mind them sat behind, what piddles me off is when they decide to pull in after crawling past with far less than 6ft! Really bad on A1 probably cos they know they’ve taken ages to pass in first place and held up cars. Already had to swerve this morning to avoid being clipped and that was only a 7.5 car transporter, not exactly mega long
More to the point, why do :-
Cars no longer let you move over to right(I do know the answer)
other hgv drivers speed up as you start the overtake, even though you have caught them up , and drive under the limiter speed to give yourself a few extra K’s in hand to overtake with

Ok, this was at 03:30 on the A1(m) with 3 lanes, with nothing else Close by, so no need to wait for a “gap”.
As for the distance, that doesn’t really bother me, as it won’t be me ending up in A&E, or worse, a morning with the undertaker,
Just wondering what why this type of “professional” driver sees it as an acceptable manoeuvre.
Information, position, speed, gear - accelerate.

So which is the better option?
Driving up and down the A20 between dover and folkestone or the A2 dover to M2 roundabout, I have to admit I do tend to get up the arse of other trucks because it’s busy and cars will not let you out, but I’m wanting to keep my momentum up, I don’t get silly close (IMO) but it’s close, and there is only two lane’s so I choose to not cause a fuss as often as possible, and move out when there is a good space, Obviously there is forward’s planning involved, and them ■■■■■■■■ that plod along at what ever speed not a problem it’s when you go to overtake them they decide to match your speed and screw you over and cause a scene, what is the mentality in that?
I don’t mean I tailgate all the time, just as I’m plodding along if I’m approaching someone I’ll open her up and get shifting ready for the maneuver.

Sorry mate, but I don’t believe this unless you were broken down/sitting at traffic lights. Can you come up with a reasonably believable excuse for this please.
