any one else noticed when there is a overtaking ban you plodder along at 75 or 80 ks
then someone pulls out to overtake (jackson 619
)and everyone puts their foot down
until the truck gets past, then they slow down again till someone else has a go
or you are stuck behind a truck doing 70 or 75ks then when the ban is over they speed up so you cannot get past then slows down again when the ban starts again
Nah, never noticed anything like that, ever.
There’s people who do 85k whenever there’s a ban, and wind it up to 90k when it’s over… they are annoying. But never seen anyone doing it as slow as 70-75k unless there was hills involved.
See it all the time in Germany, and it’s usually a German holding everyone else up.
The Dutch have slowed down a lot now too,it seems that the speeding fines, which were always paid by the company, are now down to the driver’s!
In my day, it was “F” Troop who held up the job in their sky-blue RoMans.
Come on now you older guys, who remembers “F” Troop??

They used to be a right pain in the proverbial in the “Kasseler Berge”, a section of the A7 with some pretty hefty hills and a round the clock truck overtaking ban on km after km of 3 lane Autobahn.
I reckon that if any of “F Troop” managed to negotiate this stretch of Autobahn without the engine blowing up, they got a medal from Ceausescu

I’m actually old enough to remember both lots…
I think Inselaffe knew it too, cos he didn’t catch me out with the B&W version he posted. I remember that being on TV when I was a nipper.
I did mean uncle Nikolai’s lot in those RoMans though.
IIRC, they drove everywhere at 60-70kmh and got in everybody’s way, especially on the ‘no overtaking by trucks’ parts of the German Autobahns.

I’ve noticed that too, Keith
Since moving back over this side of the water, I’ve also noticed the huge increase in the number of no overtaking zones in various countries since I last lived here about 5 years ago.
Still, I’m of an age now where it doesn’t bother me, so I just knock a couple of clicks off the Tempomat, join the back of the queue and sit back and enjoy the view and let the kids get on with it if they feel the need to be somewhere else fast by blasting past in lane 2
Having said that, it does hack me off when the matrix signs on the A2 towards Hannover light up at 5am every morning to impose an overtaking ban on the 3 lane Autobahn at a time when there is very little other traffic about
