Overnighting in Beckington near Frome, Somerset

I see a lot of lorries parked up in the lay by near the Texaco garage near Beckinton.
There are two great pubs in the village, a few minutes walk.
Both have a restaurant and bar snacks, log fires and a warm welcome .
The Foresters pub in Goose Street and The Woolpack on Bath road.
Don’t sit in the cab .
Socialize .

When im tramping i walk for at least an hour every night .

When i was on containers i used to take an old kona strapped to back of cab and have a ride .

But that is a very different thing to socialising with other drivers !

And if i walked to a pub there is no way i would admit to being a lorry driver .

Each to their own my love

Much less comfortable to go into a pub on your tod these days, I’d say.

I like to socialize, I also like some peace and quiet and just shut me curtains put a film on and relax with a few bottles of beer.

Haven’t tried walking but could do with shedding a stone or two so perhaps a walkabout is on the cards.

Having a laugh with a group of drivers is great, burning diesel and moaning about the job is always a risk when a gaggle of truck whingers get together.

Horses for courses, some days I’m out and about others it’s curtains shut and ■■■■ out.

If you walk up the hill on Church Street, the huge mansion before the church used to belong to the Showering family who started the Babysham brand and became very wealthy on global sales.
Further on you will find Wool Hall recording studios, a former farm buildings converted to a studio and accomodation, Tears for Fears started it, then it was sold to Van Morrison, villagers have spotted Morrisey and numerous other recording artists in the village.
Further on, you reach the main road, cross over to Stubbs Lane, there is the Beckington Loop walk, it is signed up and takes you on a scenic walk.
