hello gurus
another newbie post from me i am afraid
i am going to Swansea from Norfolk on Saturday with an overnight stay, drop time 8am sunday
unfortunately i don’t know the drop location and my height right now.
two main questions for me:
- what is the situation with the crossing - M4 vs M48 and what about the tolls?
- any recommended places for an overnight stop (both free and paid) around the place?
would you go m25-m4 or a428-a421-a420 as m4 and m25 are quite often a pita?
appreciate it is a bit vague, however any bit of info would help
cheers
Tolls on both bridges heading in, £19.80. I’d say M48 is (seems) quicker to Magor turn but that’s as far as I go… I get dizzy and turn back! I maybe tempted to sit on M25/M4 and just have the CC on and bollox to the traffic…no bonuses etc for me so just go with the flow!
If your going to Amazon ring in sick.
Thank me later
Where in Norfolk?
A14-M6-M42-M50-A40-A465. M4 left or right depending where in Swansea you going.
No toll bridge.
Plenty of parking on the llansamlet industrial estate, with several pubs that also serve grub. Or Asda if you want shopping.

I take it your going from Thetford.
best route is
A11, A14, M6, M42, M5, M50, A40, A449, M4.
parking wise, there is a large layby a few miles before the M4 on the A449 with 24 hour tea bar. plenty of places to park in Swansea or you can park in services on M4. avoid Cardiff gate services.

appreciate, thanks for the hints
If your not tracked & they don’t analyse your Digicard too intensely, you could always take the M50-A40 route but tell 'em you went M25-M4 then pocket the £19.80 on top of your night out money. [emoji6]
(Not that any of us would have done that in the past [emoji6])
Just remember, you pay to get into Wales over the Severn Bridge, but it’s free to escape.
How high were you, last time you checked?
With or without the Cuban heels . . makes a difference.

That’s because nobody slows down on the way out, there’s a hedge by the Severn full of fivers

Thats great advice for the parking. Currently parked up for the night on the estate and enjoying a pint in a pub, thank you
Thanks for the route ideas, intended to go via a465 but it was closed and somehow i missed thay closure on the roadworks.org (or it just was not there) so turned back and got to m4 via a4042.
Out of interest whats wrong with cardiff gate services?

Only about a dozen truck spaces.
Forgot to add…if you come off the M4 at the Swansea Services roundabout, and head towards Gorseinon on the A48 you can park on the service rd that runs alongside the Asda supermarket once you reach the town centre. Loads of shops, takeaway and a Wetherspoons for a cheaper pint, all within 2 mins walking!
Not sure i understand where that is, can you point me pls?
