Well I was told as I came out the dock that the wagons come out of hear and turn left at the readout and park down there; and also near Morrison (where ever that is)
As I came out the dock to that roundabout, the left turn had a blue sign saying “unsuitable for articulated vehicles” so I left it and went down the A55
Anyone hear parked up round there before?
Road King (Hollies) have opened a new truck stop near Holyhead Port - 1 mile from it…
Parc Cybi, Holyhead
If that helps??
If you are going to be leaving before 7 in the morning then park on the Argos car park take the first exit off the A55 turn left at the top go through the first roundabout and right at the second and in to the Argos car park. Rumour has it the truck stop is going to charge £25 well good luck with that will not be paying that, why not charge by the hour a lot of people will just want a couple of hours to finish off their break rather than a full nights parking.

Not if you’re coming out of the docks
Have they got the truck stop opened now, it was just a road when I was there last summer. You do see trucks parked in the big morrisons car park or behind Travis Perkins, failing that there a few parking bays on the A55 while still on Anglesey.

Think it will be open in the summer most of the building work looks finished
I can confirm that RoadKing on the outskirts of Holyhead is now open. I was there the other night.
It is an excellent facility however it is having a few teething problems (internet not working, can’t take chip and pin etc) but the food is good, the portions large (Mega Breakfast is exceptional value) and the facility itself is 5 star - even has a bar with reasonably priced drinks. The teething problems will sort themselves out over the next couple of weeks I’m sure.
It does however have shortcomings.
It doesn’t take euros (most of the pubs and even the kebab shops and chippies in Holyhead take euros)
You get a couple of hours free park up then you have to pay - which is fair enough but they sell the parking time in 24 hour blocks which when you consider the custom moving through there seems a bit harsh. They really need a shorter slot - maybe 6 hours or even 4.
It doesn’t have Sky Sports and BT Sports. Come on guys? This is 21st century. If the local pubs take euros and have Sky Sports and you can park up nearby free, what are you offering that’s better?
According to the Yard guy I spoke to there this morning the local authorities will shortly prohibit HGV parking on the retail park and premises and restrict lay-by parking on the A55 to a maximum of two hours.
I’m only having a breakfast while I have a 45 there after delivering to the last shop on the run so it won’t affect me.
Breakfast is excellent by the way and the whole facility is a huge step in the right direction from what I can see.
The problem with the restricting of the lay bys is that a lot of people come off the boats and need to finish a break and maybe need to park up for only 3 or 4 hours the truck stop does not cater for this as they charge £15 after two hours regardless of the fact that you will only be there for an hour or two over the two hours free parking. Can’t see to many operators prepared to pay £15 for an hour or two they need to implement an hourly pay system the same as the one in Dover. Was in there Sunday lunchtime 6 units and 3 units with trailers so hardly attracting a crowd. Any parking restrictions will in the large be ignored as putting a ticket on a foreign lorry is just a waste of paper and the majority of lorries there are foreign.
Hurray, another rip off merchant. It always looks empty when I pass. I imagine they’ll put barriers up in retail park but good luck if they try and restrict lay by parking, they can take a running jump. I’ve said for ages what they should do is as above, have 2/3/4 hour slots, charge max of £10 for 11 off, TAKE EUROS, and do a deal for free tractor unit parking if they spend a minimum amount in shop or resraurant. But they won’t do any of this, because this is the UK, where truck stop operators have only one aim, to screw as much money out of customers for absolute minimum outlay. If only they weren’t so blind, they’d see it might be full every night if they did the above.

Although I agree, I wouldn’t say it’s exactly MINIMUM outlay, it costs a bloody fortune to set up and run a DECENT truckstop, which this one will be I think. They’ve worked wonders with The Hollies.
When you start your new office job, and you’re sat on your backside all day, maybe get a copy of the Magna Carta to read and see if you can find these topics that were mentioned on the radio, apparently it’s been used several times to fight parking tickets??

Ah, that is a good point. But the prices they charge to sit on a bit of tarmac is ridiculous.
But you may have a point there. If they ban truck parking anywhere on Anglesey surely thats effectively state aid for a commercial enterprise! So while maybe not Magna Carta maybe some EU law could help. I see Stena have banned overnight parking in the port, which is a crappy move on their part
anyone who has suggestions for improvement should tell the truckstop operator what ideas they have,
if they don’t hear from us how can they be expected to know our concerns.■■
