Does anybody know of any decent overnight parking close to the Shipley area?
Ideally with shower facilities and somewhere to get some decent grub.First ever night out and i want it to be as comfortable as possible haha.

Sorry don’t know Shipley that well, have you tried hgvparking.com?
There is Hartshead Welcome break. Stayed there a few times. Usual MSA stuff, £18.50 to park without a meal voucher. Its on a slope though so you’ll want to grab a space so you’ll be sleeping with your head facing uphill.
There’s nothing near Shipley that offers showers other than MSA. Plenty of good food though around area esp if you like curries.
Ended up in Wetherby services as i was coming up the A1 but thanks for taking the time to reply.

Hope you meant down A1 or you’ve gone well past Shipley on way up [emoji12], mind you I live in Bradford and I keep trying to go well past the dump as well!
Wetherby’s a good night out and not that far from services in a taxi btw
HaHa going to cut across the A61 first thing in the morning.I know i could of got closer but i wanted some home comforts it being my first night out and that [emoji53]
Wetherby, not exactly “home comforts”. Hate staying there, first night I was there I had a guy sit with his engine running in front of me for 45 minutes at 1am. Then at 2am a cattle truck rolled in with pigs on board making an ungodly racket… Hateful place that.

Set off early early then as you’ll hit crap traffic all way through Leeds, Horsforth and Kirstall or Headingley depending on which way you go. Either way it looks ok on a map but the traffic is murder in reality !
What times your drop in Shipley for?
It always looks easy on a map haha.8 in the morning, how much time dya reckon i should give myself to get there?

I leave Leeds around 7am and its starting to build then.

You’ll regret going down the A61 at that time. In any case it doesn’t take you anywhere near Shipley. You shouldn’t be at Wetherby services anyway if you’ve come up the A1 . Best way for you to get from there to Shipley for 8 is to go up to A59 junction, down A659 all the way to Rawdon, turn right at the JCT600 roundabout then bear left in Guiseley then down Hollins Hill through Baildon. You’ll get some traffic but nowhere near as bad as on other routes.
On a decent clear run its a good 45min from where you are. Add traffic and time you’ve to be there and your in peak for both Leeds and Bradford commutes, extra time depends on which way you go?
You could go round Leeds and get to Shipley going A659, A658, A657, round past airport.
Or come down A1(M) head onto M1 to Leeds, M62 towards Manchester, then M606 into Bradford and follow Ring road A6177 to A650 then to Shipley.
Unfortunately where you are there is no easy route without hitting commute traffic. It’s going to add a good 30min to your journey no matter which way you go. I’d set off little bit early and get ahead of commuters, aiming to be in Shipley for 730, that way you’ve a chance !
The M62 is horrible round that part doing rush hour. Even worse if its chucking it down like it was today.
M62 horrible at any part! Hate it, been doing Manchester/Liverpool today and just a mare getting there and back with water logged lanes.

Funny that! I was queuing from the Castleford turn, then round Huddersfield and Bradford then round the M60 turn off, then sat in more traffic in the centre of Manchester. What should of been a quick day turned into a 12 hour 45 day with an 8 hour odd drive! I know something is going to go wrong when the planner tells me “don’t worry, I got you an easy run”… I’ve got another “easy” run tomorrow. Oxford, Reading then Basingstoke…
