No mention of increasing the living space for drivers I notice- just increased load area/ fuel saving devices and/or crumple zones for other road users
I remember Commer forward control vans where your knees WERE the crumple-zone!
It will be interesting to see if these ever see the light of day, whether they do manage to squeeze a bit more room for drivers
whether they do manage to squeeze a bit more room for drivers
Now do not be silly
Why would they give a driver more room?

If they’re going to be as fugly as the Scania in that article then forget it…
Although i think this is a good idea and long over due with increased tractor and trailer lengths some places are going to be near on impossible to get into, some places can only be accessed now with only inches to spare.
Many modern industrial areas have been laid out around standard lengths and turning circles: I suspect there are quite a few that would struggle with trucks that had longer overhangs at each end.
I predict loads of sales of replacement ‘crumpled’ body parts.

Yeah I have to agree that Scanias terrible, this ones a better version
alte hase:
Why would they increase the drivers ‘living space’, with the so obvious consequences of imposing many tachograph regulations as treating drivers like dogs on an everyday basis, so why would they increase the ‘kennel’ size for the EU’s ‘untermenschen’, a living space in a EU sleeper cab takes ‘contradiction of terms’ to a new dimension.
Spot on. Except for the fact that any one would expect a dog to crap at the side of the road if made to stay there for 9 or 11 hours. For a human to do so would be unacceptable and possibly lead to even more prosecution. Even convicted criminals are provided with the bare minimum such as guaranteed food, washing facilities and toilet facilities.

it doesnt say what they have revised the lengths to? so whats the crack with these 30 pallet trailers that are knocking about, i missed the article about them if there was one, i just noticed an eddie stobart with one somewhere i was loading one day, i did wonder if that meant T cabs would make a come back?? i would imagine that it would be very easy to incorperate an increase in living space into a safer design - it says the longer cabs must be in the interest of safety and fuel efficiency and not load space doent it? so you could read into that that its ok to make the cab bigger as your not gaining any extra load space
shouldnt that last pic of the scania say daf on the front?? look at the roof lights and colour
It’s an old Scania concept pic from before the 105 was produced
So the LOHEAC is making a comeback then?
it’s a start. and as i’ve been suggesting similar things on here and to the government.
I’m going take the credit.
thanks in advance.
