overall length

i’m after advice on whether you are legally allowed to run a extendable trailer closed with an overall articulated length of 17.5m, we have a hiab fitted to the back of our unit which makes us 1m longer than the permitted 16.5m. We are in the process of shortening the standard trailer by 1m, but have been told that if we had it made into a extendable trailer we would be ok not to have the trailer shortenend

can’t really see how that would be correct, as you would be overlength BEFORE you extend the trailer

you are only exempt from the rule if you have to stretch the trailer, thus making it overlength, to fit the load

You may be able to get away as a “high” lowloader as they are allowed 18 metres without meeting turning circle requirements. :bulb:

would that not then come under STGA rules, although, not necessarilly heavy haulage
