When does the Punchard Truck wash open, as according to the Trucking Legend that’s all your fit to do,

Best sell some of the fleet Dan

To be fair that Transit flat would have needed to be well loaded before daring to pull that trailer loaded at 3.5t gross.Unless Dan is the bravest of the brave.

Please tell me the Tare weight CF of the said pick up

Btw I have done

I’m going with a lot less than 3.5t.I’ve also pulled a twin axle trailer loaded with my Jag XJ12 with a swb Land Rover and an empty van of French origin can’t remember what.
NEVER and I mean NEVER again,I’d rather set fire to it than bother to move it without its own power in that case.
Far worse than a mismatched load on the DAF 2300 and Close Coupled trailer I drove regularly and that’s saying something.I really don’t like close coupled outfits of any sort and I mean really. They are the devils work. :open_mouth:

Why do you keep banging on about trailers being heavier than the tow vehicle I think there’s some Caravan Club guidance but that’s just to discourage some mouth breather from trying to tow a 6 berth with a Micra.

I tow Moffett forklifts, on the exact same type of Ifor trailer all over the UK behind an unladen pickup that’s 1.9 ton which is over a ton and a half lighter than the forklift and trailer it’s towing. The trailer is a tri-axle and there’s aftermarket air suspension fitted to the back axle of the pickup which makes things smoother and less hairy with a blowout but it would be fine if it was a tandem and cart springs on the pickup.

Presumably you’ve had some snaking drama where you went through a hedge backwards but poor loading is the most common cause

I’ve never had any ‘dramas’ towing anything.
But I do know when something is on the edge of the envelope and driven plenty like it and I do know personally of a driver who ended up facing South Bound on his side in the North Bound carriageway of the M1 with a DAF 2300 loaded with empty cages and a too heavy trailer. That was the end of his career he couldn’t face going back to it.

A heavy close coupled trailer v too light towing vehicle is poor loading and tail wagging the dog is an all too real scenario in that case.

So how many 2 + 3 40t gross close coupled truck outfits have you seen on the road. :unamused:

Here I’am at the Frejus with a 2.4 tonne machine on the trailer and a computer panel on the front .
I was having a day off from washing lorry’s

Now awaits you telling us it wasn’t a handful ( as opposed to a ‘drama’ let alone a 'crisis; :unamused: ) on the down grades.Although it can potentially be a ( too ) fine line between a ‘handful’ and a drama.
Especially with a longer load ( like a bleedin heavy Jag or a boat etc) that can’t be placed on the trailer as precisely to contrate more weight ahead of the rear most trailer axle and no I’ve never been over that line even with that type of load.

Unless there’s something you’re not telling us regarding the weight of the ‘computer panel’.

As I said it needs an O licence anyway might as well pull it with a 7.5 tonner and forget about the silly < 2t ‘dual purpose’ car type heap.

There ya go Dan, your business model is all wrong!

Bloody hillbillies coming here half arsed and taking all our work! :imp: :imp:

Conor seems to have gone very quiet on the subject, I wonder why?

The panel was 200kg ,you really know nothing of what your talking about .
As normal I drove it like I stole it .
All your statements show your inexperienced.
You wouldnt keep mentioning the pick up truck weight if you knew what it actually was ,and not going to tell you either

No my statements just show that I know better.
You drove that ( close coupled ) trailer weight mismatch like you stole it downhill and I’m the one who knows zb all.Yeah right. It’s the type of ‘experience’ I didn’t need.

What your don’t realise is the pick up weighs 2950kg empty
I’ve done thousands more miles in reverse with that motor than you ever have going forward .
I’ve taken all sized loads on that set to most of Europe and Scandinavia.
I personally did 1.4 million Ks in that particular one .

If you knew owt at all then you’ve of realised the tare weight many posts earlier rather than keep commenting on weights .

Dan I would give up trying to argue with such a professional like CF, or C, they have so many T-shirts, and Google on their side, you can’t win, even when you have more experience of the real world.

As a side I personally would employ CF as TM, because he has so much knowledge of transport operations, and regulations what could possibly go wrong.

Non nom nom…

More butterscotch please whilst I watch as CF gets his ■■■ handed to him.

Yeah right sure it does Dan if you say so.That must be the heaviest light van based flat bed in history.Tell us more about it’s gross and payload. :unamused:
So I tell the OP to forget about the car derived ‘dual purpose’ heap pulling a 3.5 t trailer.Get an O licence and use a 7.5 tonner for the job and you tell me I’m talking bollox because you’ve pulled 3.5t trailers with a 3t unladen van.

As for me I’ve probably driven more miles backwards with A frame drawbar outfits than anything that you’ve driven forwards.

Mmm. Now who do I use a consultant, for my new light haulage business venture, do I use CF+C consultant know bugger .all, and associates. Or the D.Punchard esq, purveyors of sound knowledge, and experience.

Edit just add the previous s reg 1998 model was 5500kg train and I uprated it to 6300kg it caused chaos with the law as both plates were displayed side by side as per the regulations .

Yes so the pick up weighs approx 2350 kg and the crane weighs 400kg,tools and tarps ect and driver get it up to the 2950 kg .
The 16 ft trailers are around 800 depending on headboard and tarps ect.
The train weight is 6300 kg .

The new V6 that Pick up that’s just cost me £47,000 weighs 2380kg and 2780kg with crane on .
The train weight is 7tonne .
Payloads of 3820 kg and 3420 kg .

Hope this helps .

If you look on google at Mercedes you can see the weights
