Outback Truckers

when the old guy had the bonnet up in the first show i am sure the engine in the old girl was a K19 ■■■■■■■■
i would think you would need more than a D6 to pull 100 ton+ through that sort of mud, the last one i saw in action had all on to push 15 ton of chatter!
on another point you dont see many euro type trucks on that job, the likes of daf, iveco, man, scania,or even mamy volvo’s, they would fall to bits in less than a week!
i never saw any brittle plastic trim on the macks or kenworth’s, come to think about it i never saw any plastic full stop

Astonishingly the Stralis euro cab is a common sight in Oz.

FFS them iveco’s must stay on the tarmac, christ they dont put three trailers behind them and head off down a dirt track do they? lol

What a hero!
All respect to the poor old chap, you can’t fault him for stamina, but I’m going to have a whip round for some PPE!

Poor my arse he may be 60 but he is not daft that truck is well and truly paid for and i doubt very much he does it for nothing.

Thought he reckoned he was gonna be ‘in the red with the bank manager’ on that trip?Don’t know how you’d price a job like that???would want to be on ‘day rate’ lol

Apart from the Volvo FH that was on the wide loads that the man and gobby woman team kept passing.

Love the down to earth nature of these Aussies

I see that the program is sponcerd by Cat and BP ,i hope the old boy is getting a few bob out of it he certainly deserves it , on another theme it certainly says something about Kenworths cos the pounding the running gear is taking dosent bare thinking about.

BP have pulled out sponsorship, it was on another thread but if i rememeber it was due to unsafe practices, next episode has a BP tanker in it according to the clip at the end. not sure about Cat though.

i agree its a good enough porgram to watch but i can watch Stobarts or IRT cause i have a sense of humour and can take it all with a pinch of salt :unamused:

PS, havent got a clue when the low loader guy says litres to the metre :exclamation:

scotstrucker:
outback truckers is way better than the ice roads or that other load of [zb] thats on

Ah but IRT was interesting for the first series.
After that it went to the dogs

How that Rick keeps on going is beyond me he must have a right reputation up there.

I’ve only saw about 10 minutes over this series and he’s smashed a wheel and had to reverse miles back after a wrong turn.

Quinny thats a very interesting link, looks like Outback Truckers has stirred up a lot of controversy over there.

The guy is a hero, I think that I go into some ■■■■ holes down country lanes and farm tracks but they’re the M1 in comparison

Apparently it went down like a ■■■■ in BP’s lift when one of the gobby women passed a car slowing for a level crossing showing red lights, and then went into her usual automatic mouthing off rant about car drivers. Stupid cow :grimacing:

Don’t forget everyone it’s on tonight :sunglasses:

“Megatruckers” is another show from down under featuring Heavy Haulage Australia and owner John Kelly. Couldn’t access full episodes but there’s a few clips on YouTube. May be of some interest if your in to heavy haulage and blinged up trucks etc.

What station was that on ?

:grimacing: What a load of cobblers! Bewick could have shifted that with an Atki, 350 ■■■■■■■ and an 18-speed gearbox. :grimacing: :grimacing:

Litres per km is the normal phrase i.e. 28 miles per gallon equated to 10 litres per 100 kms or 10 kms per Litre , he is using so much fuel he is Litres per metres,

cant seem to get a viewing on ps3 or PC but from what i’ve read , the sponsors BP & CAT arnt happy about TV makers glamourising the dangerous & incompetent that represent the industry, shame the people on the board at stobart didn’t see further than the glamour of the camera that makes the stobart group & drivers a laughing stock from it’s own industry , but how would you convince global corperations like BP & CAT, that people wouldn’t want to see nice safe & dull they want to see thick as a plank drivers with foul language & dangerous driving …although , it seems to have worked so far :unamused:
