No Norfolknewbie was out at work sorry to disappoint you but as I originate from Yorkshire your attempt at whit failed miserably!
Riho:
From your experience White, do the V8 Scanias with 800k to 1m on the clock brake down a lot, or they are still quite reliable?
What is the critical milage for a V8, when you need to rebuild the engine, put new injectors e.c?
We never take them over the 1M km mark. Tend to trade them in after between 4 to 5 years…

Like you say we all have our own opinion to which is the best truck the only problem I find with the Scania is the seat I do suffer pain in my lower back apart from that I can not fault them.i am interested in your opinion to which is the best truck

Scania & Volvo in our opinion are the 2 leading trucks for Reliability / Looks / Re sale Value / Performance / Driver Comfort…
But Volvo let us down couple years ago so we went Scania. We now have 1 x 500, 2 x 560, 6 x 620 & 3 x 730, All V8’s, Maybe would have a fleet of FH16’s if things had worked out differently with Volvo.
We have got 5 x 2011 Dafs, 1 x 510 & 4 x 460. They are good trucks with plenty of driver comfort but they can not match the Scania all round.
The Scania’s cost £30k more than the DAFS, but last 2 years longer and you get you £30k back at the end !!!

WHY are you calling drivers " glory boys " because they want to drive a truck in a certain way ? Some want to be home every night , some don’t mind when they get home . People are different and have different lifestyles . If you are happy being away for weeks , and work for a guy who provides first class kit , why do you then become a glory boy ? I’m confused

I agree totally here, “glory boys” comes across as a derogatory description of blokes who do a hard job and deserve decent equipment, & in the case of Ray White drivers seem to get top notch trucks.
I’m not confused ‘shade’, here’s a bloke who thinks he’s better than drivers who spend weeks away from home & wants to think his work makes him somehow superior to the “glory boys” who drive better trucks than he does. IMHO!!!
Ross.

I have a feeling that the so called ‘glory boys’ don’t give a flying ■■■■ what people think In fact I bet most laugh at the idiots who think they are. But unless they’ve worked for these companies they can only go on rumors and what other people have said. People will believe anything these days
Cheers

I missed the post from whites on here advertising for drivers or glory boys. In ur words . I bet pete ■■■■■■ himself laughing at your cv above
I drive a V8 and I look after it but my mission is to get home.
I don’t spend my personal money on external cleaning products, any external extras, I don’t even want to spend 40+ quid on a set of chrome wheel nut covers. I wash the truck once a week and keep it clean inside always.
Every operators dream driver is a cab happy fan boy who hasn’t got much else going on in his life and couldn’t really care less whats in his pay packet at the end of the month.
But that’s their hobby, that’s their interest and its their life so if they are content with that then good for them.

Has RW offered you a job then? How long have you been in your current job?
The Key to any successful business is its staff. They are the backbone of any business not just haulage. If you have the right employees who will work with you then you have every chance of making it.
Ray White Transport have obviously found good drivers who work hard and respect what they have been given, I’m quite sure they are well looked after as a result of that!
Its great to hear of their success and makes a change from hearing the depressing stories of hauliers going bust/ ripping people off/ starting up again
Theres far too many drivers out there who dont give 2 effs about the job / truck / trailer as long as they get their dosh at the end of the day.
So many green eyed posts on this topic its unreal.
