Our New Project Revealed!

You saw the cry for help…you were titillated by the promise of a “sneak preview”…and some of you stepped up to the plate and joined us in starting it along it’s way.

So may we now present the first pictures of TruckNet UK’s latest project, carried out in partnership with Redline Racing - Operation Truckshows!!! :grimacing:

Thanks to the generosity of Steve Fell (from Redline Racing), we have secured use of a 35ft hospitality trailer, enabling us to at last provide a dry and comfortable environment for the members to meet up at the 2006 shows. :sunglasses:
This excellent piece of engineering comes complete with a bar (first things first… ), kitchen, and a suitably large seating area - all under cover and on wheels. :sunglasses:

Now, don’t get me wrong. The reason this is a “project” (as opposed to a nice simple “done deal”) is because the trailer in question needs work. To go out and buy a shiny, new (or even new-ish), ready-to-roll version of the same thing would cost thousands…even attempting to hire one produces quotes which give our Financial Director a nosebleed for several weeks……but with a surprisingly small amount of hard work, elbow grease, and the right kind of knowhow - plus a lot of favours - we should be able to turn up at next year’s events - truckshows and race meetings alike - with a vehicle to be proud of.

Okay…deep breath, guys and gals…this is what it looks like at the moment. Try and look past the surface and see the potential, if you please. Just to warn those of you on dial-up, there are 8 pictures to load below, so bear with it…:grimacing: :-

The nearside of the exterior. There is a gantry-type arrangement with steps for easier access through these doors at the events.

Offside view. The extending sidewing shown slides inside the trailer to give a flush wall for when it’s in transit. The supporting framework lives in the locker beneath.

A general interior view showing the sidewing and bar-area at the back of the trailer.

Same again, this time looking the other way towards the kichen at the front.

Close-up of Rikki’s favourite bit…

Face-on view of the sidewing, as seen through the sliding doors.

The “public” view of the kitchen partition at the front.

The inside of the kitchen as it stands…try and ignore the junk…

At this point we are calling all yard- and workshop-owners, spray-painters, joiners, sparkys, and anyone else who can help us out either with a skill, or simply with their time and effort where the need arises…could YOU[/i] help us to make this very achieveable dream a reality? :bulb:   :grimacing: :grimacing:
Many thanks to those who helped both us and Steve with the initial clear-out today - Angie (animal) for her cleaning skills and van; Terry (ohterry) for his muscles; and Ken & Mary of Justice for Drivers ( www.justicefordrivers.org ) for providing the liquid refreshments in the Navi afterwards…:grimacing:…your support is hugely appreciated!!! ( Thanks also to Billy the gateman for letting us drink his coffee supplies…again…  )
So what are you waiting for? To get involved e-mail either us ( www.truckrace.co.uk website), or simply post below…we’ll be in touch! :stuck_out_tongue:

rikki with regaurds to wanting a chippie give animal a ring and she can give you my number or let us know when i’m needed ps the beers are on you        tin at time cheers mike

I will be busy up until the Driffield show, the Saturday after will be OK with me. so maybe we could get another full day in on the trailer. Just let me know.

i hope you got the right license  :lol

Sorry I missed you all

But I couldnt get a lift or a loan of a car, tried all day and even phoned you luce, have you changed your number? anyway if I can help I will…

Sorry I missed you Terry, would have been a pleasure.

It does have lots of promise, looking forward to a guinness or 3 in there sometime

Am a bit too far away to help at moment unless it comes south abit :frowning:

just to reiterate what lucy said, regarding the current condition of the trailer, it is basically a sound piece of kit, only needing some tlc. nothing mechanically wrong running gear etc etc is sound. so come on folks with a little more help from members, we will have a hospitality trailer for us all to enjoy and meet up at most if not all truck shows in 2006 and beyond…

looks like an excellent bit of kit.
but dont let toytown see it. it will give him ideas again.

trucknet said.Okay…deep breath, guys and gals…this is what it looks like at the moment. Try and look past the surface and see the potential, if you please…

it were,nt you who sold me my house was it

S, will this be a ‘Trucknet’ thing, representing Trucknet at shows, encouraging new members and supporting various causes under the Trucknet banner?

I can’t do any of the things you need, unfortunately. Why don’t you set up a paypal account. I’d be happy to chip in a tenner as and when.

Oo, I do make a chuffing good windowbox though lol Gardening is really my only non-driving skill.

‘Trucknet’ thing, representing Trucknet at shows

Its a TruckNet & Redline Racing thing

The trailer will be used at truckshows for members to meet up and socialise. and also for our advertsisers and possible future clients to come and see what we are all about, Redline Racing will be doing the same

It also means we will have a presence at events we dont normally attend such as Truck Races were Steve will be taking the trailer, and visa versa at events were Steve cant attend we will be able to represent in a small way Redline.

While Steve actuallly owns the trailer, this is definatly a partnership project to promote boh of our organisations.

Both TruckNet UK and Redline have alreay discussed the trailers use at the shows and we are both happy to have organisations that we support such as Justice for Drivers also utalising the trailer to further their aims.

Why don’t you set up a paypal account. I’d be happy to chip in a tenner as and when.

Thanks for the offer, but we will not take money of drivers to support this site, or this project, that is a policy that has been in force since the day I first dreamed of this websites existance, and as long as I and Lucy are in charge, will never change

Well done Rikki & Lucy

Had I known you wanted something like that :unamused:

but dont let toytown see it. it will give him ideas again

Not without a divorce thrown in Dave. 4 coaches & a trailer in 3 years is TOO much :open_mouth:

Had I known you wanted something like that

If only  … to be honest a moblie exhibition/hospitality stand it was an idea we had been throwing around… adapting a decent horse box was one of the more realistic ideas…
However when Steve appaoched us with the idea of sharing his trailer it seemed to all fit into place nicely :open_mouth:

talk of wanting a chippie…if you dont get the help you need i`ll give them a battering
good luck with the project though…sorry i live too far away to be of any help…but i will try out the bar at the first show it goes to.

Just e-mailed Trucknet Admin with an offer to help if I can.

this is a strange question, but does anyone have any idea who make trailers like the one above.

I’m looking for something very similar (although need something slightly longer) for a project I’m considering.

TIA
Stuart.

who make trailers like the one above.

The trailer was pictured was built some time ago and the company no loger exists.

To have one build from new would cost in excess of 60K + and to buy one second hand is hard to find at the right price.

We built our race transporter pictured on our website from a 40ft curtainsider and appart from time did not cost very much.

If you would like more details PM me and we can discuss.

Steve

Lynton Commercial Units, of manchester manufacture trailers like this, (an ex employer who I spent many happy years with) tel no: 01612238211 from memorey, but I know they have a web site, try google. As mentioned before they don’t come cheap, however at the end of sept they quite often sell off ex hire fleet trailers at a resonable price. Good luck to the truck net team, and redline racing with this project, I will no doubt be round to see you somewhere in the future.

This is probably no where near where the trailer is parked up, but we do have our own paint shop and trailer workshops in Owens where all our units and trailers get fixed. Owens are well known for supporting various projects, we have for instance just send a truck to Romania with building materials for a childrens hospital. Can I suggest that you phone Owens and ask if they would help with the paint job ? Perhaps offer them some sort of advertising on this site in return ?
I don’t know if it’s something they will get involved in, but it might be worth asking.

Chris Hodge sometimes has trailers like that for sale.

What a good project and brilliant idea.

Unfortunately I live way too far away to offer assistance, but,if you want I’ll pop a few self-tappers and a screwdriver in the post to you along with a pair of Marigolds

On second thoughts, forget the Marigolds,'er indoors has just informed me that there’s washing-up to be done.

Tch! A woman’s work is never done!

Good luck anyway.
