Anyone can hate WE drivers, moaning about wages. But now most commercial, industrial job in Egland paid just between national minimum wages and some 12 pound per hour. But class one job newer will be high paid because now it is easy, clean job.But young people wiĺl not go to driving because it problem with start time.To many driver must start early morning. But I don t think who he or him wide will happy if neeg go to work at 1 am for any big or super big money.Plus young people prefer another job but no industrial.

You have made some valid points Andrejs all of which I pointed out in my post, if the wages were higher and good money could be earned, it would become a real career option as it is for the EE drivers. The real reason why the EE drivers often have a better outlook to the job than our own drivers have is because there is a bigger incentive. If we could get the same professional outlook and financial gain then we may get better drivers ourselves. Nothing personal against EE drivers in the slightest, they are simply doing what any of us would do. If I could double my wages by driving a Romanian lorry, I would be there in a flash.

show me any much better paid job now in UK.What can doing any typical drivers if he leave this role.

Whilst we’re stereotyping…I’ll leave this here

  Love it.

I used to do a lot of work limping for tescos out of Peterborough about 6 years ago, They used to employ lots of ee drivers on agency + full timers, they were great going forwards but not so great going backwards, we had to reverse onto the rsu bays when we finished a run, which was a simple right angle reverse. It was like watching a game of tennis as the lorries went back forward back forward (could go on for a while) trying to get on the bay,

If the half the stories were true how they got their licences, its amazing they could go forwards let alone reverse :open_mouth:

With the 3 to 4K it costs for a licence acquisition in this country Andrejs, there are better options to earn better.

I am as well passed in Uk and spend about 5 grant or may be more for licence and happy. But i wait list of much better paid job.$-5 grand for training it is not to much.To many people go colledge and spend 2-4 years ,not work and must pay for some room and after 4 years he/she will get less money that can get lorry drivers.

Glad your happy, 5K is an awful lot to pay, if it gets you where you want to be, 5k well spent. Plenty of other training available at that price is all I am saying. I too am satisfied with my lot but then I have other options available to me if I ever choose to Leave. 5k on just a licence gives you no option but to carry on. I personally wouldn’t spend 5k on obtaining a licence. Each to his own, live and let live my friend.

where I work out of we have European drivers in everyday and I have to say a majority are very good at reversing on the bays, can’t fault them

I’m too old now , but if i had my time again , i would just do my class 2 and then do crane driving , my son is only 23 , only got cat c and earned 45 grand last year as a mobile crane driver for Ainscough ,if he has a night out or 2 they pay to put him up in a hotel and they pay expenses for a meal. He was lucky , he was already working there , doing a temporary planning job in the office when the manager asked him if had thought about driving a crane , Anyway to cut a long story short , i paid for the cat c training ,£800 , he passed test 1st time , then Ainscough paid for all the other training and licenses

ps , he won’t use a sat nav ,only uses google maps on the works phone

How much is the crane training? Can’t see that being cheap tbh.

2 or 3 grand a i think , but worth it , he had to do a 2 week course with a test at the end , then various other 1 day courses to get the card or license to work on the railways , power stations etc

Sure beats general haulage, don’t think its an easy option though, usually crane drivers are required to be highly experienced on expensive lifts.

probably , but like this job , once you get the license you get work and gain experience , some of the very large cranes require a C + E , but them blokes go away for weeks or months at a time and live in a van. All my lad does is drive to a site , spend an hour or so setting up , and then does nothing most the day apart from a few lifts , or slinging , then drives back to the yard , usually home for 6 or 7 pm

double post

Me too, but the difference is that you and I both know what haulage entails and what a steaming pile of ■■■■ it is as a general rule. The newer lambs to the slaughter (and that’s what they are) have no idea. They see the kind of ■■■■■■■■ that is propagated by agencies and other nefarious parties that have a vested interest in bringing in drivers, such as ‘earn £1,000 per week’ and ‘work the hours that suit you’, and away they go. By the time they discover the reality, it’s too late.

As for some of the rest of this thread - where someone has seen one (singular) Eastern Euro driver make a mess of reversing and then computes that into all of them (plural) being hopeless idiots - what can you say? It’s the brain-dead lorry driver sterotype being lived up to once again, just as it is by the drivers of many British-registered wagons if my recent and fortunately now very rare experience on the M6 this week is an indicator.

The number of drivers out there that pose a serious danger to both themselves and others is mind-boggling, and the worst thing is that they are so absolutely [zb] stupid that they can’t see it.

Now that’s a good reason to pull their pins, wind trailer brakes off and turn fridges off. How dare these johnny foreigners play be different rules to us British chaps.
