If I start @ 6am and can only work/drive for 11hrs a day, does that mean any time doing other than work ie 3hrs mean I can only drive 8hrs? or can I still drive 4.5 x2 =9hrs irrigardless of other than work.

Most drivers will be on EU rules in the Uk, there are a few exemptions that mean you will be on domestic regs. There is no 11 hour limit on EU rules ( which is why I asked about domestic rules)
The EU rules have a 13 hour limit (although in the rules it’s worded as no daily limit but specifies the amount of rest you need daily ) this can be extended to 15 hours 3 times a week.
In that 13/15 hours you can drive 9 hours (or 10 hours twice a week )

Without knowing what sort of work you do we can’t know if you’re on EU regulations like most people or domestic regulations.
You can be on EU regulations even if you never leave the UK and most people are.
Have a read of the Rules on Drivers’ Hours and Tachographs (Goods vehicles in GB and Europe), hopefully it will help

You can do have reduced daily rest periods three times between weekly rest periods, not three times per week

Or are you thinking of the night time rule so many variations but have a read of the regs that tachograph has put if still in doubt ask
I know of a driver that still thinks you can work 16 hr a day 
yep we have tried to tell him but he wont listen
@ tachograph I can understand the way Denis has written it down rather than you but that just my brain process sorry
