Is it just me, or is it becoming more common for other lorry drivers deliberately messing you around on the road?
I used to have a lorry with a very high limiter setting (60mph) so it was never a problem, but I’ve recently been using a slower one and noticed that when I try to over take, the person I’m overtaking speeds up like car drivers do so I can’t get past. Then they slow down again when I give up. Why? I know the riding on the limiter vs a few clicks below has been done to death, but why speed up just to stop someone overtaking?
Also if I move over to let another join the motorway they match my speed so I’m stranded in the middle lane.
And another thing, if I’m overtaking and we hit a downhill stretch I’ve noticed the other driver will dip the clutch or turn off the exhaust brake so I can’t get past … now that’s not bad in itself … I realise that it’s easy to overspeed, but they wait till I pull back in and THEN hit the brakes.
Maybe I’m just being paranoid, but it does seem to be happening more and more. Perhaps it’'s just little games being played to relieve the boredom on the motorway

No you aint imagining it mate.
However you calling these type of f/whits ‘lorry drivers’ is stretching it a bit.
It’s getting to the stage were I’m loathe to move over and let people on at junctions now I’ve been stranded that many times
I won’t do it anymore if someone is in the middle and catching me up
You can’t compare the easy old days with today. The roads are far busier now and this leads to bad driving. If on the rare occasion you do get on a nice half empty motorway the standards and courtesy improves.

Good point I agree the extra stress leads to bad driving. However, most of the examples I mentioned above happen at night which is why I was wondering if it’s just little games to relieve the boredom. During the day I take it for granted I’m going to get zb’s over

Obviously this doesn’t include London drivers who simply haven’t got a clue. And without wanting to come across racist I’ve noticed that a disproportionately high number of blacks and Asians haven’t got a clue how to drive on motorways.
My pet hate are the ■■■■■■■ who let gravity beat their limiter into submission on a downhill section when you’ve just spent 2 minutes overtaking them, only for them to fly back past you on the inside. If somebody’s limiter is set higher than yours and they’re in the overtake, don’t be a mug, use the brake and let 'em past! They’ll catch up to you again eventually and all you do is cause frustration.

That’s exactly what happened the other night. Almost past and then we hit a hill and he rolls out in front. And then waits till I pull back in and hits the brakes so I have to pull out again. Stupid really as on the level I’m in the faster wagon and could just sit next to him till we both catch up with a Tesco lorry then slow down and pen him in if I chose to sink to his level.
Its just general knobishness, as courtesy will cost about a whole 40 seconds on a 2 hour journey.
My goat is gotten when they start an Elephant race, the wagon behind decides he wants to overtake you (fair enough) but up hill and his wagon has not got the testicles to get past you (hark me in my 340 )
but Mr billybollox still goes for it, sorry I am not easing off on my hard earned charge at that hill, hang it out sucker
Every other time I will let them in out even hockey cokey as I like a chilled relaxing drive and to get home in one piece

Don’t know about that mate, not blowing my own trumpet or anything but I try and be a courteous driver whether the road is quiet or busy, it’s what ( is supposed) to seperates the professionals from the not so
Btw these ‘easy old days’ you refer to, when exactly was this? What is your source of knowlege on this?
Were you actually a driver then??
Easy? …Manual boxes that needed skill to operate, crap trucks that you actuall had to DRIVE, roping and sheeting, no sat navs (shock horror) no phones for the boss to hold your hand, very few sleeper cabs, (but had to have nights out), no night heaters and so it goes on. So maybe a bit of verbal excreta there mate eh? …just saying like.
I don’t understand why slacking off 2-3 seconds to let someone go will kill you?? I’ll probably get some comments for this but… The foreign wagons are far more considerate than our own!! Half our lot won’t even flash to acknowledge it’s okay to come back over!!
I have the swingers to admit I do all of the above…I am running 44 tonne 90% of the time in a 460 engine which is gutless for that weight & as soon as my momentum dies I might as well get out & push so if I can keep my speed I will…going down hill…well that’s another story as I will admit if I want to get passed some one I use the hill & my weight advantage to good use, BUT…I draw the line at 60mph, I have no need to drop the clutch I have gravity

So does that mean if your 1mph faster than the wagon in front you will take 3 miles to over take him

Yup had same thing too or someone from Stoke direction presumes your turning left and keeps the foot down .

I too like to be courteous, but take for example hitting a jam on the M25. You can’t afford not to tailgate in lane 1 or some cooont in a Audi MP3 (or whatever you call them) weaves in and out in front of you. As for the “easy in the old days comment” I’m just teasing.
