Orwell crossing

Just been here for a carvery, and to be honest I think this place has gone right down hill, the food wasnt great, desserts now £4.25 for 3663 pre made frozen stuff, scruffy looking unfriendly staff, just not what it use to be IMO. Im sure it’s still better than alot of other places, but just seems to have gone downhill! Anyone else share this view?

The last time I was in there the staff all seemed to be Polish, nothing wrong with that in itself but they were the most miserable bunch of depressing people I’ve come across in a long while. I’ve never eaten there though, I just used to stop in for a shower when taking trailers in or out of Felixstowe.

Maybe you could / should speak to Ann and Karl? They are quite approachable and they’d rather you spoke to them than be dissatisfied :sunglasses:

I haven’t eaten in there for about 4 years now as I shared this opinion. I know from speaking to a couple of mates on express freight, it’s not even as good as the last time I used it. One has stopped using it all toghether

+1 I agree with you fella.

Agreed over priced and not very nice either service was shocking last time i visited

i took my daughter in there for dinner last summer and wasnt displeased, i stopped overnight at the begginning of the year and was surprised how dead it was, i thought there would be a good crowd having a beer, but not the case at all - the guy taking my money did annoy me by trying to get me to have the most expensive parking ticket based on it only saying parking on the receipt no matter which i had! even more annoying though and this wasnt orwells fault, the ■■■ in the truck next to me couldnt get in or out of his cab with out hitting my cab!!! :imp:
didnt think much to the dim lighting though.

Only been in once…Didnt impress so I haven,t been back…I tend to get food from MOTO M&S and be a unsociable cab rat…

3663 pre frozen stuff? I sweated delivering that!! Have some apreciation please haha

Back to the grindstone after a long week last 3 days without my home (truck) thanks to a hole in my air line, all fixed now. What a weekend Thanks to Karl and Anne at Orwell Crossing let me doss down in one of the caravans that the Polish workers use on the farm in the summer (thanks guys) Friday night was a Irish Band Paddy O Brian free to drivers but £10 to the country music crowd. The staffs, including the owners were all dressed up for red nose day and wearing bow ties (a radio Suffolk thing) I had a dance with a cracking little Irish girl who follows the band. A bit of a let down when she went home at midnight so I had a couple more drinks in the restaurant with a curry and banana pavlova it’s the drink you know. Couple of bottles take out back to the caravan. Saturday long day kicking around the lorry park after the F1 qualifying went for a walk to a local pub half a mile or so from the Orwell had a look at the menu and a pint £4.10 for Stella and £8.99 for a Carvery sod that back to truck stop £5.99 for the same thing and £3.30 for Budweiser. Enough left for a knickerbocker glory the good old days. A very good band in the bar on Saturday but only about ten of us in the bar and five in the band whey were good though. Second night back to the caravan this time with a bramley apple pie and custard no beer. Sunday phone ringing at 9.15 getting my truck back at 11.30, time for breakfast before then and a shower. The biggest breakfast they do and wait and wait no truck! I phone them and I have got to pick it up, I asked Karl for a local taxi number and he offers to drop me off (what a gent) all fixed and hooked up just waiting for a fax for my load and I will be off. Karl said no charge for the use of the caravan as I helped with his bar takings on Friday night. good news I will be able to watch the F1 and have a Sunday roast before starting my week on a Sunday. I don’t get to stop here very often but when I do its all good.
Thanks Anne & Karl
(My God you two have lost so much wt since I was last there)
Cheers

Good try at a bit of free pr there!!!

Hmm… Two posts since joining 5 years ago and both of them telling everyone how good Orwell Crossing is…

Since we have your attention It isn’t very good, and you charge too much for food, by the way.

Christ, do they think we’re all completely stupid? :unamused:
