Orwell Crossing

Is it still open?

I’m heading that way on tonight and seem to recall a thread a few months back saying it had closed

Haven’t seen any signs this week saying it is going to be closed. Been over it all week

Spot on. Cheers

Sorry but are you asking about the truckstop or the bridge?

Orwell crossing, Orwell truckstop. Clue is in the the title.
Just saying

Passed it the other day & it looked open, just googled it & it says that it’s open today, 24hours-01473659140

I was on about the truckstop. It was open but hellfire it changed a bit, and not for the better.

I won’t use it again on principle. Spoiled by greed.

Stopped a couple of weeks back for a shower they wanted 6 quid at least ■■■■ Turpin wore a mask when he robbed u

Six pesetas for a shower, you can get your car washed for half the price .
Just a hot dog van there now or greasy burgers and chips, shame the cafe shut, good roast dinners .

The cafe is open again, but it’s crap. It’s the bloke who had the van. I reckon he’ll pack up soon. He can’t be making money

You did tell them you only wanted to use it, not buy it? :grimacing:

The place has deliberately put its prices up and made it unnapealling so they can go to the council, tell them it isn’t being used and apply for change of use and sell it to extend the industrial estate behind it. Everyone locally knows this, but it’ll take a while to convince the council as its a useful asset when felixstowe gets closed due to high winds.

Personally id find somewhere else

I’ve never had much cause to use it but it was a very nice truckstop when I called in. Quiet as the grave though when I was there. Has it changed hands or has the owner come to the conclusion it’s not an earner?

Interesting. I went in before Crimbo to see if I could discover what was happening, and and got to talk later on the phone with the man who was running the little cafe in the front of the building - the same fellow who runs the van that was there.

I also had a few words with the the man who apparently owns it - we didn’t really get on - I emailed him later asking for an interview, but he didn’t reply.

Through my trucking page I know some people who would like to run a truckstop near Felixstowe, but they don’t have the dosh to buy or develop a site - sad really, because Felixstowe really needs something.
