Last time Dan, was for the father-in-laws 80th Birthday, (2011)
we went from Victoria on a Murder Mystery themed journey around Kent,
There were characters dressed up who wafted around the carriages giving bits of Info,
and you had to work out who the killer was,
Best of all - we won
There is another firm that do steam train trips, called Steam Dreams,
they run the Cathedrals Express trips,
I have been on 2 of those too, If you go for the dining experience, it is very similar to the Orient Express service.
There are cheaper options where you take your packed lunch with you, but they are the more basic carriages full of the serious train spotters who take their old maps with them

First trip - quite a while ago, (2005)
we went to Winchester, met by a coach, took us to Beaulieu, had a look around the grounds, the big house & the motor museum, then back to Victoria station
Just booked trip on the Hiram Bingham going from Cusco to Maccu Picchu in October
