Orange mobile signal

has anyone else been suffering problems with orange of late?
i can be driving along with a full signal and talking without a problem, then the signal will dip and then cut off and the signal comes straight back… :unamused:
other times i can be without signal for 10mins or so then it comes back full.
not sure if it is a hardware issue or a network issue, but am on the 2nd sony w995 and still experiancing problems.
any ideas
cheers

I’m on Vodaphone & its no different, I have a Mate on Vodaphone who says he’s going back to Orange because Vodaphone are [zb]

I was on Orange years back & thought it was [zb] back then, I now think the lot of them are oversubscribed & the networks can’t cope, I’ve whinged to Vodaphone who have told me 2G is better than 3G but you need to be a scientist to get your phone from 3G to 2G.

i am on orange and have had no 3g service on my iphone for well over a week now, orange are saying its a fault with my phone, was supposed to go to sheffield apple store to get a new phone, but the weather has put a stop to that. an iphone is pointless with out a 3g service, so starting to get annoyed with it now :unamused: :frowning:

it also totally loses network coverage it says i have no carrier connection, all this started before the snow so i cant blame the weather for that

Set your phone up so it piggy backs on T-Mobiles network when an Orange signal isn’t available. My phone asked me if I wanted to do it when I opened my Orange iPhone app, not sure how you set it up yourself but ring Orange and I’m sure they’ll help. It’s free too.

But always call orange after midday :sunglasses:

mine is set up for orange/t-mobile, when i have 3g service it just says orange, but now it displays both orange and t-mobile but with no3g service. :frowning:

Go to Orange website and find “sign up to share”, then just register your phone number. Mine has worked 10 times better since I’ve done this.

I cannae get a signal in my own house FFS  , my cab phone is also orange and its a heap of ■■■■■ too!

They sent me a text about this t-mobile thing but i dont get it, has one bought the other one? They dont do this stuff for free, there must be a catch which is why i never signed up for it.

for once there is no catch, sign up and you can use both networks basically, orange bought t-mobile i think, or it may be the other way round.

Orange & T-Mobile "merged " a while back but have kept some of the entities separate

I dont get a signal with orange in my house ( have to go outside ) but that is because of where I live & yep orange are aware of this

I’ve had lots of connection problems with Orange recently, it’s got to the point that I’ve been considering changing networks.

I’m trying what’s been suggested about signing up for both networks and hope the connection improves.

Whilst signing up for the shared network it occurred to me that they could be more careful with the CAPTCHA words :astonished:

As far as I know neither company has been taken over they’ve just agreed to work together to provide a better network, makes sense I would think as the investment in the latest mobile network technology is a big burden on even the largest network companies like Vodafone, which is why Vodafone and O2 are now collaborating to share their respective network infrastructures.

There’s no catch it’s just companies co-operating and helping each other to provide what is a very expensive network which is getting more expensive with the demand for the latest and improved technology, to you and me it’s just G3, mobile internet ec’t ec’t but to the mobile phone network companies it’s a fortune that needs to be spent on new and improve equipment

If you call up Orang & ask for Network faults tell them your prob they should then start to put it right

If more than a few call up with a similar prob they will make it a national prob ( fault 1 ) which will activated sooner

This comes from my son who work at orange

Had signal trouble with orange for a long time , but has been more trouble than usual over the last couple of months or so, & now they are sharing signal with T mobile which is a bit better. Due to all the black spots where you never could get a signal, I found vodaphone was exellent signal, so ended up takeing two phones with me everywhere

Dont forget that RF does not penetrate metal. Energy saving double glazing windows have a thin metal film to reflect heat (and RF)
Personally I could never understand the non-availability of outside aerials (anymore) for mobile phones in vehicles

i got the same phone as you w995,had it on tmobile first, now its on tesco mobile and i had the same problem with both, even sat at home full signal then no signal then back to full signal, lookin like it could be the phone thats the problem■■?

May be if you all do this then it could solve the prob quicker & easier

Orange-TMobile is 2G only. Unless you want to do fast web browsing or video calls, the fact it is 2G doesn’t matter a toss. You can still make calls, send texts, emails and do slow web browsing.

the people who he is asking are. The Orange cell site in our town is oversubscribed, has been for 6 months and they know about it. Three upgraded their capacity in our town months ago. If your phone is on 3G in any of the area covered by the local site, you can’t receive calls, making calls takes an age to start ringing and mobile web is out of the question - 2 minutes to load Googles webpage.

heres my bit… 1st mobile i had was on Orange (Nokia Orange 5.1), signal was crap in most areas so went to Vodafone…signal crap in most areas (can’t remember make of phone), went to o2 in 2004 (Samsung slide thingy), signal was perfect everywhere. Contract ran out and as the service was better than others,i resigned. Got a new phone (forget model) and…signal was ■■■■■■■ Changed phone before 30 days to a Nokia N95 and signal was ace…even 3g,never dropped a call in 2 years. Now have a Blackberry Storm 2 (still o2) and signal is dire…don’t bother making calls when on A34/M40 cuz it keeps dropping. 3G is good if u can find it but normally goes to gprs/Edge and when changing the signal…thats when it drops :unamused: . Thinking about digging the old N95 out the drawer…best mobile made in my opinion. While i’m here, wifey works for NHS and they are on Vodafone. She is on call alot of her shift (community care) and a; they cant get a signal in her place of work and b; she can’t get a signal at home!! IMHO its all down to the aerial that is built into the handset…if its to small,it ain’t gonna happen
