Only an idiot would try to u turn there it will be another prat-nav job

Was the ā€œprat navā€ driving?

No but some drivers cant go for a [zb] without checking there sat nav its still a daft place to u turn

Not really, I’d say it was just unlucky and was obviously trying to look what he was doing as he noticed and stopped before pulling the whole lot down. Screwing it round is probably safer than a tricky reverse somewhere with a lot of pedestrians like that.

I would have more sympathy if he had a 45 or curtain on. 40s don’t kick back much so he must have been very close to the scaffolding to do that. And it looks plenty big enough to screw round there. Driver error if ever I saw it. And they normally pull 45s too :open_mouth:

it does look like a 45ft container…

its most certainly a 45ft look closely you can see the over hang at either end

And the two sets of twist-lock holes each end.

If he had any idea what he was doing he wouldnt have tryd to screw round there or turn right at that mounument in the road if he needed to turn round he should have carried on out off sevenoaks its a main road where he was he should have gone on to turn round we have all dropped ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  at one time or another but he should know the swing out of that trl, lucky no one was on that scaffold

Saaamon:
If only he had a 40ft box on. I dont think he should get dd for that, was just a mistake at the end of the day.

It doesn’t matter how long the box was, it’s very dangerous judgement and could have killed a lot of people. If you are that dangerous give up and get a desk job.

Silver_Surfer:
Dangerous is a tad more than 6 points dude.

Dangerous driving can get you between 3 and 11 points (Careless driving from 3 to 9 points).

Thank goodness he was there doing a u turn when the scaffold fell over and he stopped it falling any futher , Am joking folks before everyone kicks off at me!!!

I would guess he didn’t know the area but to be honest, having just looked at streetview there’s over four lanes of road width either side of the fountain would have been an ideal spot to screw round. He made an error of judgement of having the trailer wheels too far over to the left and not using all the available road but there wasn’t anything wrong with the location choice.

It’s easy to say, ā€˜better turning place up ahead’ if you know the area, if you don’t, and have come off course, you never know if the road narrows or there’s a weight restriction ahead.

Agreed

i know sevenoaks very well, im guessing he was lost and was meant to be going to the industrial estates at the bottom of the hill, yes there is a low bridge but not near where he is. if he had continued he would of ended up having to drive all the way through to the other side of town to turn around.bad judgement but it does happen.

Easy to be wise afterwards, but if yer not sure, get out of the cab, walk round the back and have a look. There’s no shame in it.
