Hello everyone.
I passed my category C and Driver CPC tests last month, and since then I have been applying for any advertised jobs that don’t specify “X months experience required”. I’ve also been canvassing local companies for vacancies and sending my CV for future consideration. So far, I’ve done a couple of interviews which went well, so hopefully I’ll find out if I was successful soon. I’ve also been offered some questionable work by agencies, which I’ve been hesitant to accept.
Ideally, I’d like to start with a good company where I can build my skills and eventually do the C+E entitlement and ADR training, as I would quite like to “specialise” in tanker work. I just feel like it would be a good idea to invest my time with a company I’d like to stay with long term, rather than jumping from job to job with agencies or otherwise.
I was wondering if anyone can offer advice about how to get started in Northern Ireland?
Are there any good companies here that actively recruit new LGV drivers?
Is it best to do agency work until I have a year or two of experience?
Would doing my C+E entitlement help my cause?
Any advice you can offer would be really appreciated.
