Opinions on current employer?

I work for a small courier company, with about 30 sprinters who have decided that they can make some money getting in some 7.5 puddle jumpers and calling themselves a logistic company.

I have held class 1 for best part of 30 years but done almost no driving for last 6-7 years so thought I’d remind myself how the job goes with some tramping and next day stuff for them before committing back to big boys wagons.

None of the 3 directors have tacho cards or LGV experience but are massively knowledgeable on all things EU rules etc, eg, must switch tacho to break when unloading, refuelling etc, must not put card into tacho on slack days until actually going out on driving job to ‘save WTD hours’ and most recently when I called in with a jammed seatbelt and said I had to get it fixed before I could continue was told by the CPC holder that ’ you dont need to wear a seatbelt anyway, so just carry on’
,
I’ve challenged them several times and said that what they ask just isn’t legal, only to be told ’ there’s a difference between being legal and making money’

Reckon I’ve about had enough and should move on but should I bubble them to vosa for the benefit of the remaining C1’s?

Why would you grass them up? If they were refusing to pay your wages i could understand but they dont sound all that bad to be fair, although the seat belt does take the ■■■■ some what. The fact is you work for a small van company and none of them can run legal and now they’ve got small lorries the same ethos has carried over.

If you bubble them to VOSA, you will be putting your (ex) workmates out of work - potentially. Your call…

If you are concerned about getting in trouble with the old bill or VOSA you do have a point, so I would just ask your boss to put everything he wants you to do in writing !

Introducing 7.5 tonners into the fleet surely means a new O license? As a new O license holder they will be visited by VOSA as a matter of routine within a few months of starting.
It might be an interesting visit :open_mouth:
