I borrowed a copy of the David Lowe book from another forum member. It seemed to do the job, I passed all three modules at the first attempt.

How many pages did the book have? did it resemble war and peace?

It was pretty hefty, I can’t remember exactly how big. I ignored big chunks of it though, as I wasn’t doing the international and wasn’t doing anything passenger related so obviously didn’t need to learn those bits. It took me a good few months but I took it with me to work and read it on my 45s.

Ive ordered some of david lows books and am waiting for them to arrive, can you remember what the title of the book you used was

Thanks

I phoned up a local training centre who did CPC courses and booked to just sit the exam (without the course) at their site. I can’t remember exactly but they charged me something like 40quid on top of the exam fees. I don’t think their courses could have been much good as I found out afterwards that of everyone there (which was me and about 8 people who had been there for a full week on their course) I was the only person who passed all 3 modules.

David Lowes 2012 edition of The Transport Managers Handbook has 676 pages and is available from Kogan Page.Just type it in on Google.

I was looking at purchasing some home study material from the RHA for £150 but would purchasing David Lowes 2012 edition of The Transport Managers Handbook be enough to get me buy also a lot cheaper at around £55

David Lowe also does
"A Study Manual of Professional Competence in Road Haulage: A Complete Study Course for the OCR CPC Examination "

amazon.co.uk/David-Lowe/e/B001HCXUCU

not sure how it fits with the new joint exam, but I expect he’s working on it

probably cheaper than £55 if you search t’interweb too

It’s horses for courses really. Some people will be able to just read the TM Handbook and that will be enough, others will need something more substantial like a home study course and some people who are perhaps not so good at studying by themselves will find the only way they can take it in properly is to go and have a weeks course somewhere. You need to try and assess what your learning skills are and pick the one you feel is best for yourself.

The operators CPC has or is changing to include International as well as national. I am waiting for the new home study stuff to be produced before buying it. This course also counts as your driver CPC so I have choosen to do the lot before 2014 deadline.

I was under the impression that the RHA study material was for both national and international and they had taken into account the 2 tests becoming one. Might be worth giving them a. Call

spam javelin, what or how do you get the operators cpc to count towards the drivers cpc■■? How do you get the points uploaded■■? who do you expect to have the first set of study material out for the latest version,

It only counts towards your driver CPC hours if you do a classroom course at an approved centre that has had their operator CPC course accredited for the purposes of driver CPC training. As far as I am aware very few have done this so far but in time I would expect that they all will as otherwise most/all of their customers will go to their competitors who have done.

You can’t get any driver CPC hours by just buying the home study pack and passing the exam.

Paul

Sorry I didn’t make myself clear. I am waiting to buy the new home study stuff to prep for the classroom.

Any CPC provider who provides a home study course.
