Operators CPC home study

Anybody with previous experience of doing this by home study!
Roughly how long would it take to do it this way if you really hit it hard, I know this all varies but just looking for a rough idea! Couple of hours at night when I park up and every weekend, still fairly young and was good at school!

I know it’s not the best way of doing it but it works for me!!

Cheers

Seems plausible as a mate of mine in his late 50’s did an open university law degree and did very well too, all in his spare time.
He carried on driving as he just wanted to see if he could pass the course as a bit of a challenge :open_mouth:

I did it this way. Did it in 3 weeks, that was every hour spare i had in the day. Every break etc and getting loaded/unloaded. Passed both modules so worked for me!!! Good luck! :sunglasses:

3 weeks eh! We’ll done mate! Does the home notes have everything you need! Take it all in and it should be no problem! Ordered them on Friday, so will see how it goes when they arrive!

Yeah they should have everything in you need. Should pick it up no problems if you’re already a driver. I just wanted to get it out of the way as my mrs was expecting anyday! glad I did it that way though. You’ve just got to be disciplined and crack on with it and don’t let things distract you.

I have done mine a year ago. Spend around 2 weeks studying for 4 hours each day. Multiple choice passed first time, case study on a second. Make sure you study not only material but also practice past exams which they have published online. Good luck!!!

How do you do one of these? And what about cost and the exam… Just out of curiosity… How do they work?

Doing the home study at the moment , covered 17 modules so far since 1st of May , some are not bad to learn others are a wee bit more difficult and require a little more train of thought , the online advice on the ocr website is very helpful , as above says read the past papers , the most recent one is from March this year also read the Examiners report gives you more info on how the marking is done , I’m sure the Multiple Choice exam can be done first time pass if you put the hours in , the case study is the difficult part , I’m doing it over two Exam days rather than on the same day just my preference , will miss the June exam so will do September and December ,gives me plenty of study time so no excuses , can’t seem to find Multiple Choice past papers only case studies , no intention of being a TM want to be a driver just think I would be more employable when I leave my present employer next March if I had this on my CV , BTW it’s a fair read you’ll zb yourself when you see the modules but it’s set out well and easy to read all the best let us know how you get on ,I’ll do the same cheers

PS : Sorry to the OP if I have hijacked the thread , was just trying to give advice

All advice welcome

for the home study where is the best place to buy everything

ive been looking at this

The best one here
rhaonline.co.uk/operator-com … udy_-.html

I ordered mine from rha

Got mine from RHA,eos training student notes , can’t fault it set out well and easy to read recommend it ,haven’t read any others so can’t comment on them .

Im currently trying the home study. I was shocked by the size of the book/ folder. Do we have tonlrean this work for word. Ive only done the company law section at the mo.

Read a section at a time, i does seem a bit daunting, but read about 15 minutes and then take a break, then go back and read some more for the same length of time. It worked for me years ago. Your brain can only absorb so much at a time. Keep doing that and keep re-reading it, until you memorise it.
Best of luck.

David Lowe does a very good study guide - can be found on amazon. I did mine whilst driving and studying when waiting for loads which was several hours each day. Spread it out over 6 months but passed all modules 1st time. In my view it’s a better bet than intensive classroom

If anybody wants to sell their books once they’re done then I’d be interested.
Just not at £160 :open_mouth:

I was told by a trainer that approx 120 hrs study is required in total whether home study or classroom.

Its a level 3 NVQ.

If you get hold of someone’s notes be aware that stuff changes quite quickly.

tartan,

If you have an iPhone download an app called MyCQ. I created some multi choice question papers on it that I just kept going through when I had time. I am not sure if there is an android version. When I did the multi choice exam I did it online at a training company and had the results immediately.
