is the operators cpc and drivers cpc the same thing?
In a nutshell, no!
the reason i ask is i work for a small furniture delivery business and we run a 5 ton and a 7.5 ton so need the ‘o’ licence. I am the only 1 in the firm that holds a cpc (driver) so would my employer have to go for a operators cpc?
big larry:
I am the only 1 in the firm that holds a cpc (driver) so would my employer have to go for a operators cpc?
That depends on the nature of the business. When you say a ‘furniture delivery business’ do you only deliver furniture that customers purchase from you, or is it effectively just a general transport business that specialises in furniture?
The reasoning behind this is that if you only deliver your ‘own’ goods then you will only need a ‘Restricted’ O-licence (as opposed to a Standard National/International) for which there is no requirement to have a CPC holder on the payroll, whereas if you are a general transport company you will need a ‘Standard’ O-licence and therefore your employers need to employ/contract an operators CPC holder to be the designated transport manager.
cheers for the help! i looked into and we hold a restricted licence so we dont need the operators cpc
