My sons looking to get an O license so needs to get his CPC done. Will the David Lowe book be adequate or is there any advantage going for the likes of Friendberry with all the extra DVD’s and CD’s.
If doing the studying yourself, how do you actually book the exam. Had a look on the OCR website and google but can’t find how you book just the test, only the trainers doing the full course with test included.

I’ve used Friendberry stuff, their study books are top quality , but the slow monotone delivery of the dvd’s and cd’s sent me to sleep within a few minutes ( and basically they were just reading what was written in the folders )
( it was actually cd’s and videos when I did mine
)
You have to book the exam through an approved trainer, they organise the exam on behalf of Ocs or whatever they’re called. Most will offer just an exam price, I paid £60 i think for just the international exam there recently.
I prefered the home study option as I could do it at my own pace and I’ve done enough sitting in class rooms for one life time, helps is your a bit studious though, if you didn’t get any gcse’s you want to go for the course really.
Watch you don’t get ripped off on the home study notes, search the Internet for the best price, you want to be paying under a tonne anyway. Can’t remember the name of the crowd I got my notes off of, some crowd in Kent I think, they were cheapest and I booked the exam through CDS in Birmingham as they were local.
I got my notes from west oxen training, very helpful when you ring with a question etc, 200 quid for them if my memory serves me correct!! Hope this helps good luck!!

Thanks Denis, probably best to avoid the cheesy videos then.
Silver_Surfer:
Novadata.
Thanks SS, didn’t know it had to be booked through a trainer. I’ve just checked with a local company who will book the exams for £200 for the 2.
Just looked at the Novadata site and I see it also counts for the DCPC, which my son also needs but still hasn’t bothered his arse getting.
