Ok… Who parked up on the hard shoulders near Dartford Crossing last night?
Came through there around midnight - to see over a hundred trucks apparently all run out of time at once.
The road was moving and clear, but I think there was a queue to get off at J31 for Thurrock…
Meanwhile, the M11 southbound is shut all night Cambridge to Stanstead as well. 
Can’t check the traffic at night on Google Earth anymore either. The “Live Traffic” function seems to have been discontinued.

Yes it was,
Radio traffic reports and updates were saying all day to use alternate routes either via M25 clockwise (ie : J2 >j21 etc ) or through central City.
They were even advising of Height limits of tunnels and Woolwich ferry. and advising only travel & do so safely, if necessary.

Yet in even reported extreme weather conditions and the fact that the odd high sider was blowing over , Hauliers still sent their D/Decks & high sided vehicles out to work, knowing of severe weather and disruption Country wide.

M1 Junction 16 to 18 Closure
Northbound Traffic
M1 northbound traffic will be diverted onto the A45 towards Flore at junction 16. Traffic will follow the A45 to the cross roads with the A5. Traffic will turn right at the traffic lights, following the A5 to re-join the M1 northbound at junction 18.
Southbound Traffic
M1 southbound traffic will be diverted onto the A5 Southbound at junction 18. Traffic will follow the A5 to the cross roads with the A45 at Flore. Traffic will turn left at the traffic lights, following the A45 to re-join the M1 southbound at junction 16.

Works fine on Google Maps.
That diversion route for the M1 closure northbound 16-18 is to be avoided if it’s anything like last time. The lights at Weedon only let 2 cars through before going to red again and the entire A45 from there to the M1 was solid, as was most of the A5 northwards too. Expect at least 1-2 hours delay there. I’d go J15, A508, A14 to J18 personally.
