Operation Stack - Tachograph Rules?

Hi guys

Out of curiosity, a few people in work today have been talking about Operation Stack.

After a few mixed opinions, I thought I’d ask TruckNet for an answer:

What would you set your tacho to whilst you wait in the queue?

Thanks

Break. That queue isn’t going anywhere fast.

Without doubt “BREAK”, anything else would be pathetic :unamused:

I would imagine quite a lot of re-planning would be going off in traffic offices all over Europe, due to the 24/48/60 hours off…

8 hours on the other side not moving - you would have thought they could have given us another hour!!! yesterday’s hours are all over the place, I count it as being under instruction from the Gendarmes and write on the back of a printout. In the office will be a more detailed explanation of what happened kept on file.

Apologies, slightly off topic but I wonder if the likes of the drivers for Nolans got paid as they were on break?

It should really go on POA

It’s classed as a break after 4 hour continuous I believe anyway but the setting is correct

And they ought to be paid to sit there if I wasn’t being paid it would be parked with card out and go find the nearest train station

I’d love to see a source for that bullshine, are you able to link it?

+1. Seriously scary.

POA is incorrect for a few reasons but mainly because its a fake mode, flawed in conception, execution and comprehension.

Would use it if I wasnt paid breaks though…

Isn’t POA waiting time, where the time sat is known in advance?

In Operation Stack, you have no idea when the queue will next start moving so that surely wouldn’t qualify.

POA just seems to complicate what is very simple in my eyes… if your sat around doing nothing & free to entertain yourself/sleep/whatever - it’s a break from work.

Yes POA is only to be used when the exact waiting period is known in advance and the driver is able to freely dispose of their time as they wish.

The only option here is Break
