I don’t understand why so many people seem to think we should have a trade war with Germany? I thought leaving the EU was about getting out of the political union, not to cease trading with the rest of Europe?
There seems to be a belief, that we will stand on the white cliffs of Dover with a megaphone, and shout “you need us, more than we need you” and that Brussels will roll over, and play ball The attitude seems to be very Imperial, from my view point, as if we expect those funny foreigners to be honoured that we might allow them access to our market The truth is, we need to have a negotiation, in which the conclusion will be unsatisfactory to many, but better than nothing at all.
Many EU nations have next to no trade with the UK, but still have a veto over any deal that will be struck. Ireland on the other hand will be hit hard, and Germany may catch a slight cold, but lets face it, Germany can probably whether that storm.
